Tony Sparano says tests showed OLB Matt Roth's groin injury "isn't significant."

Roth can lift weights, but still is unable to practice. There have been some rumors that his absence is related to his contract, which is up after 2009.

Hopefully we can get this guy healthy. It will have a HUGE impact on our ability to stop the run if he isn't ready by the opener. At the end of last year teams weren't even running to his side because of his ability to set the edge. I know people will say JT has been doing fine so far in practice but I just don't see him as being able to stay health the entire season if he has to take on TE's and LT's every other play.

Also, this could have a huge hit on our passing defense in two ways. We may have to creep a safety into the box leaving us susceptible to the TE over the top and JT may not be fresh to rush the passer which is what we really need him to do.

Way too many people jumped to big time conclusions on the Matt Roth issue.

Why put him out there with an injury.

Let it heal and he will be back on the field soon enough.

Here is an article from the PBP that goes into more detail.

Turns out linebacker Matt Roth’s mysterious illness also involves an injury to his groin muscle.
But Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano said the injury “isn’t significant” and that Roth will re-join the team today to begin strengthening and conditioning.

Heading into the fourth day of training camp. Sparano said there is no timetable set for the return of Roth.
“Until I feel good about it, I’m not going to bring him back,” Sparano said.

I think people jumped to conclustions because the two stories being told between Roth and Rosenhaus didn't add up. There is bound to be some scepticism when an agent who is known to use any way possible to get a player more $ for a contract reports different info than the player gave to the team. I was really hoping Roth wasn't using the injury as a secondary means of holding out, which now appears to not be the case.

Ah hell and you know the media loves to throw gasoline on a story like this. It has become a frenzy and much more was made out of it than should have been. He will be back on the field shortly and it will all be forgotten.

is that pavarotti or however you spell it the tenor dude or am i totally clueless.

its definitely a tenor. I don't know who it is, I just thought it was funny. It was either that one or this one, but this one looked kind of sad.

tough to decide which were more annoying, the bundys or the cosbys. i should make a poll.
