For Niklas, this is really a reinforcement of his ability as a seam threat. Although many will tag him with the ‘blocking TE’ label, he caught the ball further downfield than any Tight End in this class. Considering his size, averaging 6.4 yards after the catch is a feat certainly worthy of praise.

Plenty more here:

It really is crazy just how different these TE's are, I've gone back and forth multiple times on who I prefer. They all have there strengths and advantages.

People call Amaro a glorified slot receiver, which is true, but unlike a lot of people I don't see it as Bad thing. He's like a giant Wes Welker, and IMO could show up on day one and be tannehills favorite target.

But I could make a case for just about any of these guys. I do wish CJ was added to this study.

Niklas is my favourite player in this years draft

niklas is raw...2 years of tight end...learning curve in the nfl for sure...doubt he helps you much in year one...late 2nd early 3rd

much more raw than eifert was coming out

I see this was done by Nu-gap who often posts here. Nice work.

Its a weird TE draft class. A few upper round guys who, for the most part, are receivers first and blockers second. Then a pretty thin group of guys who are blockers first but look like they could be receivers.

A lot of teams in the market for a TE. Given our roster and Lazors offense (plus our reported player interest, we have to be in that group too.

But its not the best year to be hunting for a TE. I personally like Lynch, but there are better players I would take at 80 and I doubt he slides below that.

I dunno about much much more raw, Eifert cant block for his life.

i wouldn't agree with that...he's not a plus blocking tight end but he's not a disaster either and he's a legitimate flex and wide mismatch option...eiferts more polished as a route runner and coverage recognition etc...

i expect his production to pick up significantly this year...

anyways my tight end grades are probably lower than many people have it...

ebron top 15
asj 50-75
amaro 50-75
niklas 50-75

no one else until day 3

I agree with your grades there, but I like Niklas better than amaro. ASJ is my favorite though, with niklas close behind. i like ebron to but i dont think there is a snowballs chance in hell to get him

there's not...depends on what you want how i see it...the best primary in line tight end is asj amaro is a good flex option niklas is a little of both just needs polish...ebrons 6 ft 4 and 250 lbs and has the movement skills and fluidity of a 6 ft 200 lb wr...

you can't name a tight end coming out of college who wasn't considered "raw" even Vernon Davis needed a few years to develop proper footwork and hand placement in the run game. Niklas is a monster. He has a chance to be the best blocking tight end in the league. He get's serious movement in the run game and can reach a 9 technique.. something no other tight end in this draft can consistently do. He's a little stiff in and out of breaks and after the catch but that's not a factor because of his size to win 50/50 balls. And after the catch db's have to make a business decision when it comes to tackling that guy.. 6'7 270............

rob gronkowski sure didnt look very raw once he got in the nfl...some guys are more ready to contribute than others...i see niklas with a significant learning curve...one at the level that i didnt see with kyle rudolph and eifert coming out

his game has some hesitation in it right now

I don't trust ASJ, I just can't trust a guy who's production dropped almost in half, especially with a first rnd pick, doubt he makes it to our 2nd.

I was a huge effect fan in the draft, and believe Dalton is holding him down the way he's holding down the entire team.

But to say direct wasn't a disaster at blocking, I just don't agree with. He was really bad.

But I do agree, all these TEs have some glaring issues, if anyone is going to make a Gronk comparison it's Niklas IMO. Gronk was very similar coming out of college.
