Roundtree released

Off topic BUT....I had his ankle being snapped on tape, and it still makes me shudder.

I had honestly liked Alphonso myself. Kind of wierd to see him go, especially with our needs. He will be a good nickelback in the future.

I liked him as well. He had the same injury-bug-itis as Yeremiah Bell, though.

I wonder if the new signing will be someone we've heard about like E. Brown and B. Taylor or even Buckley. Or will Saban sign someone else and surprise us all?

Bobbie Taylor would be a great signing, him across from Madison might not be all that bad - if in the right system (which Saban will of course provide).

Maybe making room for Ronnie Brown if they are close to signing him?

Possibly. I didn't think about that.

Yeah, it definitely seems he's going to make room for someone. The question is who? My order of preference...

Mickens-- Healthy, not too old, contributor on a solid D. He was cut for Ty Law, there's no shame in that.

Taylor (Assuming he's healthy)-- Bobby was a good corner with the Eagles. Unfortunately, he never showed much with Seattle and may be done. Still, if we work him out and he looks good, he could still have the talent to be an upgrade.

Buckley-- He's not great and he's been on 300 teams the last several seasons for a reason. Still, he's less a health concern than Taylor and can still cover and make the occasional play. He also seems to want to be here.

Brown-- Probably a more solid every down NFL player at this stage than Taylor or Buckley, but I think we're deeper/ better at safety than CB. I also prefer a coverage guy to a hitter since coverage seems to be where we're lacking with the DB's.

Anyone else out there? There's got to be a Terrence SHaw or Terry Cousin type guy out there somewhere.
