Does anybody remember that Roundtree was quite impressive in camp before he tore his ACL. Perhaps he can be the wildcard here if he comes back from the injury and continues to develop.

I thought Roundtree broke his leg.
Roundtree dislocated his ankle and broke his fibula. His foot was pointing backwards after the play. It was a very sad moment.

Holy crap...I dont see how you can ever 100% recover after an injury like that. If he did, though...he ought to get a long look in TC after Poole's injury (which really saddens me, I had high hopes for Will this year).

Very sad. He looked like a good player too, he has good instinct.

this is another player who helps support my point that CB will be ok (see a few other threads). I still say that FS is our biggest need. Saying again....I love the talent Mitch Meeuwesen (sp?) has but he's a rookie FA and had some injury issues. I want him on the team but I just don't believe he'll be anything more than a special teams player for a couple years.

Yeah, I am finally getting over the initial shock of the situation and see that we are not that bad off at CB. I still want us to add another veteran CB to compete for the starting job or at least provide depth, but we do have some good talent. Howard was a starter for the Panthers before he came here, and Edwards started a few years in Dallas before we picked him up. As long as we don't suffer any more injuries like the Poole injury in the secondary, we should be ok.

agreed. I don't like Edwards but I think he covers us for this very type of situation. A cheap vet is a good idea and I think there will be plenty overpaid CBs and possibly even S that get gut june 1 and also during training camp when tthe younger players are kept on teams to gut the bigger contracts.

Would you say this was as bad or worse then the injury McGahee sustained.

I don't think any injury could be worse then the one Garrison Hearst sustained. He still was decent when he came back and won the award for comeback player of the year.

That's right, it wasn't a torn ACL. Somehow, I forgot the greusome nature of Roundtree's injury. That being said, it sounds like he is back on the field. Does any body have any idea on some CB's that could be cut after June 1?

I don't think Nick will make any kind of panic move because I think he knows that there is more work to do that will likely take 2-3 years to get to championship level.

The good thing might be that broken bones heal better than any ligament tears. As long as it was not shattered, he should be fine if he dedicated himself to rehab.

I really hope that Roundtree will make a strong push for being nickle or dime CB.
