FAIR LAWN - Rushing for 2,000 yards or more in a college season isn't easy. That's why only 14 players have reached that magical level.
Ray Rice is one of them. So you might think his 2,012 rushing yards last season alone would punch a ticket to the pros for the Rutgers star. But there's more to playing running back in the NFL, especially when you are 5 feet 9, have been timed in the mid-4.5s for the 40-yard dash and primarily spent your time with the football tucked under your arm in college.
Rice set out to do something about the things under his control. He let 5-7 Maurice Jones-Drew of Jacksonville handle the height problem. "I think he's opened the door for a lot of guys," Rice said.
