New England Patriots defensive end Richard Seymour was named the Special Teams Player of the Week after blocking Olindo Mare's go-ahead 35-yard field goal attempt with two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter of their 19-13 overtime triumph at Miami. It was the first time New England ever had beaten the Dolphins in Miami in September or October, and it moved the 5-2 Patriots into first place in the AFC East.
It was Seymour's first Player of the Week award.
