What sounds unthinkable is actually gaining a little credence. There is chatter initiated in NFL personnel ranks that Parcells would be agreeable to leaving the Dolphins midway through his four-year contract to take on his next rebuilding project in Cleveland.

"The one thing about Bill is he's unpredictable," said a league source, who would not discount the possibility.

Parcells has an escape clause in his contract to leave the Dolphins at any point and still receive the remaining money owed him. Further, the new team would not be required to compensate the Dolphins with money or draft picks.
Parcells is always looking for a new challenge, they say, and he feels the organization he has set up in Miami will carry on fine without him

Wouldn't surprise me, but I hope we can get him to stay at least one more season.

I really just wish he would end it in Miami, see us through to a Super Bowl, and then retire for good.

I'm greedy. I want Bill... I've just nearly completed my 15 page essay on him.

But I have to say, if history repeats itself (like it usually does) then he may very well be looking elsewhere. I hear Cleveland has some good golf course too.

Are you being serious about that essay lol?

Honestly, Parcells is going to have a big field of teams to pick from at the end of the year and with that open ended contract, you can bet he will listen. Tampa Bay could use someone like him, and he would still be able to live in sunny Florida.

If Parcells would have left after the 2008 season, it would have been a BIG blow to the team. If he leaves after 2009, it will still be a blow, but it wouldn't be the end of the world because I believe Ireland and Sparano would do just fine. Though I would love to see just one more offseason with him on board. We are getting closer and one more strong offseason could be the difference maker.

Not going to happen and by the way the same Browns rumor was floating around last year and it didn't happen. Parcells has grown to really like Ross and loves South Florida. Add that to the fact that he has more money then he'll ever spend and I don't see him going anywhere. If he was gonna leave it would have been after last season.

One thing that I learned about Duane (Bills real name... its a really funny story about how he came to be known as Bill) was that he is a complete control freak! If he doesn't have complete control, he will not be happy.

If he goes to one of these teams, they better be willing to fire their coach. He wants HIS people and anything other than that is unacceptable.

hmmmmmm ok i make millions in a warm weather area where i can play golf 365 days a year, can drive around with out any snow or bitter cold and can watch really beautiful girls

Never think that Bill is about the money. Once he became a semi successful coach with the Giants in '85 and got that first long term contract, he never had to worry about having someone willing to pay him for something.

Maybe he will take Ginn, Crowder, and White with him!

Cold and snow are not that bad. ;)

I am betting he would rather work close to Florida

why quit coaching, take a job close to home and then go to Cleveland?

Cleveland, Buffalo, Miami or just retire?

I bet that he stays as long as Ross doesn't piss him off
