Rumor that Texas A&M offensive line coach Jim Turner might join Dolphins

There is a lot of buzz among Texas A&M people that Jim Turner, who was the Aggie's offensivr line coach under Sherman will make the jump to Miami. I assume he would take the same role if hired. Here is his Texas A&M bio:

Jim Turner had agree to join Texas Tech as their OL coach. He was highly coveted after Sherman was fired by both Ohio State & Texas Tech. He is coming of a year in where his line led the nation in fewest sacks. Given his resume Philbin has made another quality hire. Great job by both Philbin & Sherman if true.

former Marine? i'll take him. Its a family affair.

Why does this confuse the crap out of me?

If he agreed to coach texas tech just this offseason would he now leave them after a couple months to come here? Sounds like that would be a (bad word) thing to do!

would you feel bad for a guy leaving if say his salary would jump 2-3 times higher? dont think so. But it is still just a rumour supposedly.

It is a bad thing to not fulfill your commitment. However, this is not the first time something like this would happen. I remember back in 2008 that David Lee had just joined Ole Miss as their offensive coordinator, but one month later left to become the quarterback coach with the Dolphins. Also, two years ago our linebacker coach Edwards left to become the defensive coordinator for the Gators, but a couple of weeks left to become the Bills defensive coordinator. Certainly not a nice thing to do, but definitely not uncommon.

Why is it that there is a "he could join the Dolphins" story with every person who ever had a connection to Philbin. Saying a person "could" is like saying it "could" rain tomorrow but then again it could not.

So....is he on Texas Tech's staff or is he being talked to by the Dolphins? I'm confused by your post :ponder:

Last season he was the offensive line coach for Texas A&M under Sherman. When Sherman got fired he agreed to become the offensive line coach with Texas Tech, where he is currently employed at. The Dolphins are rumored to be targeting him, so he may never coach a game for Texas Tech since has only been on their staff for just over a month.

The rumor surfaced on Saturday, but now the Miami Herald is hearing the same thing. Armando says that Turner is close to a deal with the Dolphins.

That's why it says "rumor" in the thread title!! Hey, by the way, it could rain tomorrow.
