Hi there!

Im just wondering if with this new offense style are we gonna use a FB?

If we watch the vikigns games, we can get a clue of what it is going to happen... or not?

what do u think about it?

Best regards

It will be a mix. We'll use a fullback 50% of the time I would guess. We'll use a lot of 3 and 4 reciever sets. I think we'll see McMichael lined up wide and in the slot. We'll see alot more motion and alot more formations to confuse the defense and keep them guessing and create mismatches with their personnel.

You don't HAVE to have a FB to run the ball successfully. Blocking is what you need and a RB that can make something out of nothing, break some tackles, etc. We'll be running alot more zone blocking this year. That will be good for Ronnie and Ricky. They both have great vision and explode through holes when they open. It's exciting to envision them in a scheme that allows the RB to read and react based on the zone blocking. They both have excellent power and speed. We don't need a FB getting in their way. =)

Also, look for Randy to be lined up in the backfield which will allow him to create mismatches with inside linebackers. A traditional FB will not be used that much, prob 20-25% of the time.

Well we have 3 FB's on the roster, with one getting a lot reps last year as a TB. So we'd better use them somehow..

I heard Linnehan doesnt use FBs alot in his system.

Yeah we have 3 FBs on the roster right NOW. One will almost undoubtedly be cut. I can't see us carrying three FBs into the regular season. As little as the will be used in comparison to the past, it would be fullish to carry more than 2. Especially considering what another poster in this thread said about sliding McMichael back into the back field. I can see us doing that as well.

You're right, he doesn't. But I do think he'll use one a little more with Miami than he did with Minny. Not a LOT more. But I think we'll utilize them more as another pass catcher than lead blocker.

You have to remember also that Linehan didn't have a TE like McMichael in Minny so that will probably hurt the FB position a little more. We will use a FB here and there, but I expect it to be very minimal. What we will see most likley is a bunch of two RB sets with Brown and Williams in the backfield at the same time.

I think you're right about Ronnie and Ricky in backfield together alot. That can only be a good thing. I mean, imagine the defensive coordinator from the other team trying to figure out how to stop Chambers, Booker, Boston, McMichael, Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. And they can all realistically be on the field at the same time. YIKES!

WELL IF WE DONT HEAT EVENS DIDNT COST ALOT. AND R, BROWN AND SAMMY MORRIS HAVE PLAYED fb

Scott Linehan uses what is referred to as an "H-Back". It's a combination of the fullback and tight end positions. At any given time, the H-back can be lined up at either of those two positions, or the ball could even be snapped while the player is moving between them.

McMichael was used in this role in Miami last season, lining up at both fullback and TE, but not really going in motion between them. He could do it under Linehan, but he's not a particularly good lead blocker.

Heath Evans I believe was brought in to play this role.

According to reports from the rookie minicamps a while back, Ronnie Brown was being used as an H-Back at times, lining up mostly at fullback.

i hope somehow they find a way to get morris involved, mayble like kleinsaucer or whatever his name was in minnesota.

for the 1st time in a long time it seems like we will have more playmakers than balls to go around.

Well I'm pumped I just wish the season was hear already I CAN NOT wait.
