This is the week we need Ronnie Brown to start showing that #2 pick talent. We need a 100 yard game out of this guy. Unlike his friend Caddy (140+yards) Ronnie ran for 57 yards on 22 carries. That's a 2.6 yard average. He had one 15 yard run, so that means he gained 42 yards on 21 other carries.
We can get that out of Travis Minor. We have to have a running game that is going to get the Jets respect.

If we can run the ball effectively this week, I think we can win.

Yeah, but don't forget that the Bucs passing game with Griese in his second year is pretty good. They couldn't afford to stick 8 in the box against that passing game. The reason we had so many passing yards was that Denver was trying to shut down our running game because they thought that was our only weapon. Next week our passing game will get some respect which will open up the ground game for Ronnie. They can't shut down both!

ive got a feeling chambers is going to roast law this week, i dont think they match up particularly well with our offensive depth, which as stated above, ought to help give ronnie the creases he needs. id like to see him a little more involved in the passing game, and get sammy morris more carries, i love his heart and effort to spell ronnie rather than minor..

I do not agree.. Caddy had that 71 yarder, without that run his YPC was 2.9.. All Brown had to do was rip off one big run like that and we would all be sitting here talking bout him in the same way.. Just because he didnt have the yards that Caddy had I still think he played like the #2 pick.. He blocked well, he had a crucial catch, and eventually the yards and YPC will be there

Luckily for us, we did not need him to put up 150 yards rushing.. I think that as each game goes by he will continue to improve

EDIT: For instance, lets just say Chambers run was Ronnie.. that would have given him 22 carries for 118 yards and a 5.1 avg. I dont think that Caddy did way better than Ronnie because he had a huge run that made his below avg day (26 carries 77 yards 2.9 ypc) turn into one of the better rushing performances of the weekend

that catch was amazing, considering it was third down, one handed, and he head the prescence to roll for the last foot or 2 until the marker, also it led to the first td of the game i believe

Ronnie really had 67 yards on 21 carries. He was credited with that broken play.

Brown did jump on the backward pass that Ferotte skipped his way, and lost like 10 yards covering up his fumble. Otherwise we would have had 67 yards on 22 carries, which is a lot like 3 yards a carry (very similar to Caddy minus his big run). Not bad for the first game, but we will need more next week

Ronnie will be Fine

Ronnie will show New York why he was picked 2nd in there home town at the draft and show up big, look for New York to throw some new looks this week on defense, our running game will win or lose the game this week, should be a good game, Love my Sunday Ticket

We need Ronnie to average close to 4 a run.

And I think he will be around there, most likely a little higher, as the season goes on..

Dude, the point is Caddy DID make that run. You can not discard it like it didn't matter. Those are the kinds of threats you are supposed to get out of the #2. The big running play does impact how teams prepare for you.
I am sure Ronnie will get better. I am just saying for the big money #2 pick it's time to start seeing it. And this is a week we need to see it. We talked about Booker, Chambers, Ferotte, McMichael, Sammy Morris, everyone BUT Ronnie Brown. It's time for him to get it going to another level.

I am not down on the kid, I am sure he is capable. But all "potential" means is that you haven't done anything yet.

It is time to see what Brown can do for you.

Chambers roasting Law...LOL

I would love to think so... but why would he start beating top corners this week? What is different about this week? Is he going to start fighting for the ball like his life depended on it? He hasn't yet, again why now?

:yeahthat:

This is correct. He jumped on the backward pass from Frerotte for -10 yards rushing on that play. So he ended up officially 22/57.

Take that broken play away (not Ronnie's fault at all), and he was really 21/67.

That's really a 3.2/ypc average for Ronnie.....that's OK for his 1st game. He also had 3-4 times where he was tackled for a loss--due to poor blocking--not his fault either. He'll improve.

So what, the point I made was aside from his long run at the END of the game he wasnt doing any better than Ronnie.. I didnt discard it, its just that it could have gone either way.. Im sure Ronnie will have his share of big plays for us as well but he played in his first game and youre already all over him about playing like a #2 pick, when IMO he didnt play bad

point is this week, i doubt were going to see 8 in the box, unless they wanna play with fire, and im confident now if they do we have the staff to adjust to it and burn them. ronnie really picked it up in the second half last week. if they do stack the los gus better make them pay
