How many years does he have left on his contract. does anyone know?

I'm pretty sure this is his last year of his contract. So if indeed he makes it thru this season...expect it to be his last.

i think he has at least 2 years. the years in which he was out did not count. how much of last year counted?

Bill Parcells sent Leigh Steinberg a letter dated December 31, 2007, that the Dolphins would renew the option on his contract. He's slated to make $730,000 in 2008.

Details are sketchy but the fact that his option was picked up by the team tells me that it's essentially a year-to-year deal with no guarantees. He'll have to make the roster to earn the bucks but all reports are that following discussions with Parcells, Williams is motivated to return to elite back status. Whether he can do that at age 31 (when the season starts) or not remains to be seen.

that is good info. i do remember reading that as well. so is that part of his original deal?

He signed with a team option but I don't know the details of the original contract. Let me see what I can find out.

I'm not sure, but I hope the team trades him off for anything...
Wait...why?when Ricky is on his game he is arguably one of the best running backs in the league. If he is indeed doing a year to year contract than there is no reason to get rid of him and at $730,000 a year he isn't costing the team much money.Plus I don't see the Dolphins getting value for Ricky at this point in his career and with Ricky's history.
There isn't any reason to trade Ricky in my opinion.

Ricky is a liability and IF he stays clean this season he will be a steal... I have no faith in him. I say we shop him under the table to Oakland, Atlanta, Carolina... for a player we can use.

If we can't get something comparable then keep him around, and give him his 3-4 chance to play.

Who do you think we should trade Ricky for?I think you are wrong but I am interested in hearing who you think we should ditch Ricky for.

This is the last year of his current contract. Anything beyond 2008 will require a new contract.

In other words, he's got all the motivation in the world to produce. We'll have to wait and see if it's enough.

I think we should trade him for some fillers, like a DE, CB, SS, or perhaps a clutch WR if we can get one.

Oakland, Atlanta, would LOVE to have Ricky, they will take any person whom has a drug problem or a mark on their record.

Way too early to talk trade. If he comes out and has a great year we could see 3rd or 4th round pick. Terrible year...released. I dont not think he will be traded for a player...but for the sake of argument Ill throw one out. How about Michael Clayton from the bucs?
