Ryan Clady, OT -- Boise State
The Boise State junior did not participate at the combine but turned in a first-round performance at his pro day. Clady ran times of 5.20 seconds after tipping the scales at 311 pounds. His three-cone time of 7.05 seconds eclipsed that of any offensive linemen at the combine by almost a half-second. He also looked good in position drills.

I admit, haven't watched this guy play. But I have seen Jake Long play several times, and I would NOT be happy with the guy if we took him in the first 10 picks. The guy is not a great pass protector IMO...I don't think he has the greatest feet...or just seems stiff. I get blasted for it by the Jake Long bandwagon...sorry guys it shows up in games I do know that. I'm not saying I wouldn't be happy with the guy (just not in the top ten and not unless for some crazy reason Bill thinks Carey is going to be an All-pro LT)
What I don't know is What Clady looks like in games. But I would bet based on the above info that he looks pretty damn good. Now I don't know how strong the guy is or if He does the other things needed of a tackle. But I think the info above is VERY telling. This guy at least has the natural ability seemingly to be a REALLY good one. In a lateral agility drill He was A WHOLE .5 SECONDS FASTER THAN THE FIELD??? That is incredible! what is that 7% better than anyone? that is like the difference between a guy that runs a 4.3 forty and a guy that runs a 4.6 forty. Only, the guy running the 4.3 is THE ONLY ONE THAT DOES IT!! and NOBODY ELSE RUNS FASTER THAN 4.6!!! that is a BIG DEAL!!
I think for you guys clamoring for a LEFT TACKLE, perhaps you should just change the guy you focus on. Perhaps Boomer or somebody with knowledge of this guy can shed some light on Clady.
Hell I'll even jump on the Bandwagon if it means we trade down a couple times, and pick up a bunch of picks and still end up with the guy in the first round (provided everything else stacks up!!!)
thoughts?
