Am I the only one who thinks the ONE PIECE Ryan needs is a big, quick, athletic TE? Someone who splits the seem in the middle of the field and creates mismatches on LB's and draws safeties away from Wallace on a few plays! I feel as though some of the biggest gainers for an offense in the NFL comes from the TE.

1. Tom Brady: Rob Gronkowski
2. Drew Brees: Jimmy Graham
3. Matt Ryan: Tony Gonzalez
4. Tony Romo: Jason Witten
5. Rodgers: Jermichael Finley
6. Big Ben: Heath Miller
7. Dalton: Gresham/Eifert
8. Peyton: Julius THomas
9. Rivers: Antonio Gates
10. RG3: Jordan Reed
11. Newton: Olsen
12. Kapernick: Davis

I wish we had DUstin Keller! He could of at least provided some of this.

(Disclaimer: I am not mentioning OL, but yes, this is also needed. But with a TE we could get away with having an OL that improves even slightly)

I think Ryan is just thankful he's still in one piece.

Clay seems to be coming along fine. Better blockers is what he really needs.

Your List is way too Generous...

2. Drew Brees: Jimmy Graham

These are the only real standout TE's, the others are not. And Brady did just fine without the Gronk to start the year and the many years before him. Honestly, give Ryan those drops back against the Ravens on that ending drive, and Hit Hartline on that deep ball and we would be looking at a possible 5-1 team. Ryan just needs to get to that step of finishing the game and making that PLAY at the end of the game. I'm sure he couldn't sleep at night after missing a wide open Hartline at the end of that Bills game...He has his pieces to win.

No excuses, just hit the open receiver and get his reads in quicker. He darn did mess up that bills game...I understand he spent the bye week trying to get the ball out quicker, but that is what lead to the interception for a touchdown against the bills. Read and then throw...always!!! this Separates the good from the Great QBS

Clay and Keller are basically the same guy right now....Keller has a better understanding of routes and better hands, but don't at like his health is the only thing Tannehill is missing this season....

Tanny has enough weapons. He just needs a better line to achieve the status of above average.

You've listed good QBs who have good tight ends. Are there not so good QBs who also have good tight ends? If so, why are those QBs still not so good?

Also, I suspect that if you compared Charles Clay's performance objectively with the average performance of the other tight ends you listed, you wouldn't find a significant difference, and you would likely find that Clay is actually slightly better than their average.

I would say a right tackle is of more importance than a TE. Clay is doing great this year.

Clay is doing just fine and has big play ability. Clay has the longest reception in the league for TE's and is tied for first with 2 plays over forty yards and 6th for plays over 20 yards. He is a threat.

He has much more than enough talent to be a successful QB in this league. Brady has half the talent Ryan has around him and has his team 5-2.

He doesn't need 'pieces' right now. I think this team's pass receiving weapons are solid.

He needs credible pass protection -- note that I didn't say good pass protection -- and more experience.

Exactly, I think if Tannehill gets just average protections from his T's the offense on a whole will really improve. I do think the addition of Big Mac will definitely help. He will be somewhat better that Martin at LT and Martin will be somewhat better than Clabo at RT. Sure there will possibly be some ugly plays between the two T's but I don't think there will be as many as before.

I'm just hoping they go to a more straight ahead/power run blocking style with the addition of Mac. There is no way he is gonna be able to get where he needs to be in this zone blocking scheme.

It's a 50/50 split IMO. He needs better protection and he needs to learn from his mistakes. I'm hopeful about protection, and I'm confident that he will.
