If we finish up 5-11 or 6-10 and Ryan Mallett declares for the Draft do we take him or a wideout? I think he's the next Matt Ryan and you keep swinging until you fix the QB position. Henne and White aren't Franchise Qb's

I donno dude. Im not convinced Henne isnt the guy yet. He blew today, and to deny that would be being a huge homer plain and simple. But, Ive seen enough positive from Henne for me to think he "might" be the answer for us at QB. Until I could say he definatively blows, I wouldnt feel comfortable taking a QB.

However, I will say I think Ryan Mallett is a ****ing beast. Ive always liked him as a QB too. I think he might be the best of the bunch if he comes out and people are sleeping on him. You know I thought Matt Ryan was a beast, and he is, but this Mallett kid could be the goods too. I cant say I would be upset if we took him, but we might be ok with Henne.

no way

Defense. Another RB. Henne isn't someone you pass on on. Linebacker. FB. I need to be hired by htis front office.

Dude, you and I seeing the real deal. People on this board shouted me down when I would bring up Matt Ryan and we were headed for 1-15. They just kept saying "but we already got John Beck and he's our guy". Does anyone really think that we lose today if we had Matt Ryan? I am now telling everybody that Ryan Mallett is the the next great QB and if he's there then you have to do it. People said we didnt need Dan Marino because we already had David Woodley. Don was no fool when it came to QB's.

We won't know what we have in Henne until he gets a true number 1 receiver and our line is better at pass blocking.

Or Ryan Mallet could be the biggest project in the draft outside of Tim Tebow.

Oh yeah, he is.

And no, we are not drafting another QB with our 2nd round pick, especially one who needs as much work as Pat White needs.

John Beck is awesome though, thought I should mention that.

Mallet is another Michigan QB. He backed up Henne his senior year and started 3 games. He then transferred to Arkansas and this is his first season of eligibility. I don't foresee him coming out but if he did, I would pass. Henne had a bad game and knowing the way he bounces back, I am sure he'll be fine. You can't keep throwing high picks away on QB's that only get a season to prove their worth.

Fair enough.

Hey I think Mallett is a beast. If you were there with me on the Matt Ryan call, then I think you know your stuff. We both think this Mallett kid is the goods now. He probably is.

But, right now, for me personally, I need to see more of Henne and I cant say Im ready to draft a QB with our first pick. I know I may sound like some of the morons who didnt want Matt Ryan, but I gotta say we need some playmakers at OLB, some playmakers at WR, some good ILBs, and someone young to replace Ferguson.

But, hey, Im not going to argue with you if you think we should take him. Its true, if we dont have a solid QB, we dont have anything and those other positions are irrelevant.

I just cant say Henne completely blows right now. But, damn that Mallett kid looks tough. I think I would say he will be better than Henne, however Im not so sure Henne wont be a top 10 NFL QB eventually.

We shouldve just taken Matt Ryan and none of this would ****ing matter.

Here is two other points to think about.

1. I find it kinda funny when last week Jim Ireland did not sound convinced that Henne was the QB of the future that you could build a team around.

2. Who was Tom Brady's Wideout's when the Pats won that first Super Bowl?
Troy Brown and David Paten. No Number wideout there.

Jeff not Jim and where did he say he is not convinced Henne is the future?

Brown and Patten were a helluva lot better than anything we have on the roster and Henne is no Brady.

If I recall correctly Troy Brown made the Pro Bowl in Brady's first year and caught around 200 balls the first two years with Brady. Patton probably average around 800 yards in those same years. They were far from great, but I'd be dreaming if we had anyone that could hold their jock on this team.

I'm not sold on Henne but have seen enough potential to see what he's got the rest of the year. Being realistic if he seems average and limits mistakes the last five games with this motley crew of receivers, then I think we use our top picks on WR, Safety, or NT and hope he works out. For what it's worth I wanted Ryan, but thought Long was still a good pick.

Does he also catch the ball? Does he play LBer? Does he call plays? If no is the answer to any of these questions then lets just draft positions that we actually need help in!

Sure why not. Might as well continue to ignore what's wrong with this team.
