Ryan Tannehill could be our next qb if manning goes to arizona

If Seattle and Cleveland think Tannehill is worth it, then why wouldnt we at 8?

I think people on here dont see the transition part of this into the NFL as opposed to how he did against competition in college.

He was at Texas friggn A&M, not Texas. He turned that program around essentially and he went from WR to QB and learned the position in less time than others who have played nothing but QB. Dude is 6,4", smart, can extend the pocket, and can throw the rock. Management wont neccessarily look at it as how he projects from college. They will look at it his value to this team in two-three years. And as others have mentioned, we do have Moore who will be much further ahead with this offense with a real offseason.

I would like to re-iterate what Philbin said and that is building through the draft instead of FA. Starting to see Flynn in Cleveland. If you dont see Cleveland getting Flynn, then they will certainly be looking for Tannehill at 22. Draftcountdown I believe has Tannehill going to Seattle at 13.

IF Cleveland and Seattle is what you aspire to be? Then there really is no reasoning with you.

Tannehill was 1-5 in games decided by three points or less. All those teams were in the top 25 at the time they played A&M. And as it was pointed out the Big 12 defenses SUCK!!!!!!!!! And your willing to draft a guy in the top 10 because he showed "signs" of what he could do. I hate to tell you but if he cant play against top 25 teams he won't last long against the elite teams in the NFL. But go ahead draft another average QB and in 2-3 years we are right. But to me he showed that he can't win the big games, he has an average talent level, and isn't a guy you want leading your franchise.

he's been a quarterback for like 21 ****ing months.... so expecting him to dominate the big 12 is a bit foolish... I haven't seen may people on here advocating for tannehill at 8 to be next years starter, most have said sit him a year or two and see what happens.

why can't people think things through a bit.. it's always all or nothing on here.

Did Tannehill have any other player on his offense in college that is an NFL talent, Fuller but he was hurt most of the year. So any one else?

If your TOP 10 pick at QB, you better be starting your first year.

The same offensive weapons that had them ranked PREseason TOP 10. Some write ups had it right though, TAM would only go as far as Tannehill led them. 4 wins later, those questions were answered.

If we sign either Peyton or Flynn, we are not drafting Tannehill, or any other QB in the first 3 rounds.
Peyton Manning is a short term solution and Joe Philbin wants his own man.

Matt Flynn is a well known option for Joe Philbin and Matt Moore is the incumbent passer and the safety net in case everything goes wrong.

But the experience and shinning performance of 2011 creates a question on how different is Matt Moore over the expensive free agent with just two games of experience but great knowledge of this system.

If money or skill evaluation places Matt Flynn at a different place than Miami, then Ryan Tannehill is our QB of the future.

without even doing any research I can give you three quarterbacks who werent' day one starters for their teams

ben roethlesberger... 11th overall, backup to charlie batch until batch got hurt
matt leinhart... 10th overall backup to kurt warner
alex smith 1st overall draft pick, backup to tim rattay I believe for about 5-6 games....

tannehill doesn't have to start right away... nothing set in stone that says he has to start.

pretty sure oklahoma and florida state were preseason top five teams... would you elaborate on how that turned out... who gives a **** what Texas A&M was ranked in the preseaon...

tannehill needs to sit, but he has sick tools. peyton can start for the short term and philbin can pick his guy... if tannehill is even his guy...

there was specualtion that if indy kept peyton, the #1 pick andrew luck, would SIT behind peyton... it's no different for tannehill or any other qb we may get... IF peyton comes, our other qb's are sitting... as they should.

As I said. Its not what he did in college as it projects to his competition. Its how the management will see his value to the team in 2-3 years as a guy who everyone underreated bigtime. He is not underrated now. Cleveland's Mike Holmgren has his eyes on him at 22. bank it.

That does not mean i want to be cleveland. What it is is that I want my coaches who coached him, to draft the guy they think has tons of upside that will translate well to the NFL. I think he can be like Andy Dalton except Moore will start the season until they deem time for change.

If we get Manning, I would still draft Tannehill based on this notion. What Philbin and Sherman think, not any of us based on who he didnt beat in college. Texas A&M has been a big program since when???? when have you ever heard Texas A&M mentioned in the same light as Texas or Oklahoma? Never. All I am saying is, its not how you see it in college. Its how they see him develope into a very fine QB in the pro's cus he has all the intangibles and tools and the work ethic and desire to be the best.

I really feel like we are just speeding the start of carpal tunnel trying to get through to some people....

I think drafting Tannehil would be the best thing for the fins. I'm not sure rthat he falls to us though.

Getting Manning would mean a year of non-stop media circus and tremendous disappointment. Maybe there is anothet QB in the 3-5 rounds that Ireland has his eye on. Flynn is not who I would get, Moore is better than Flynn and will cost a fraction of what that guy does.
