DAVIE, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins third-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill owns career wins over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts and even Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks.

But, surprisingly, the one team Tannehill has struggled most against throughout his NFL career is the Buffalo Bills. Tannehill is 1-3 against Buffalo, completing just 48 percent of his passes in those four games and averaging only 136.7 yards per contest.

Tannehill’s most recent outing against Buffalo was arguably his worst game. He was 10-of-27 passing for 82 yards in a 19-0 loss to the Bills in Week 16.

Tannehill will get to meet his personal nemesis when the Dolphins (1-0) travel to face the Bills (1-0) on Sunday. Tannehill knows he wasn’t his best in Week 1 against the Patriots but still put together a winning performance. He completed 18-of-32 passes for 178 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

“We left a lot of plays out there. I left a lot of plays out there, personally,” Tannehill admitted. “Location of throws, missing throws, had a couple of dropped passes. Details like that where we left a lot of yards and a lot of touchdowns out on the field. ... But you can’t leave that many plays on the field consistently and expect to win week-in and week-out. Definitely, we want to clean those details up this week.”

Tannehill will have to play better this week. Buffalo has found a way to batter Tannehill and force Miami's offense to be one-dimensional in the past. That was especially the case during last season's season sweep when the Bills' defense registered nine quarterback sacks on Tannehill in two games.

We need a better game out of our QB if we are to beat the Bills. I think Lazor wasn't happy about the missed opportunities vs the Pats and will have his QB ready to play.

Good summary. The one item that might change his play is the running game option. I remember last year's game (the second one) it was a depressing sight.

Sucks that Wallace has a bad hammy because with the way Moreno ran game one I expect there could be a lot of opportunities deep down the field.

It's awesome to think what this offense is capable of if we limit the mistakes/turnovers/drops and have even slightly improved play from Tannehill!

Hey we put up 30 + and our QB was just ok ?
Good play out of the QB and the sky is the limit.

Imagine if Wallace and Tannehill could get on the same page and connect more. Were going to need to be able to continue to run the ball semi-effecitvaly though- especially this week.

Notice the last time Tannehill beat Buffalo he had allot less attempts throwing the ball.
The running game will be key for the dolphins to beat Buffalo so the bills d cant tee off on the dolphins QB!

Well the Bills figured out our Go / Go Go signals AND the Jerry arm tap and head bob from Pouncey, which means they always knew run vs. pass and they always knew our snap count.

Couple that with a strong defense and our weak OL, they dominated us worse than during the Kelly/Thomas/whatishisnameWR era. Hell, the K-Gun at least we scored and had some fun .... losing to a 3rd string QB and scoring like a church choir got Sherman fired.

I expect Lazor to unveil his arsenal of screen passes this week. Also, he should unleash Charles Clay and target the gap where Kiko Alonso isn't.

I don't know why people make a big deal about the arm tap, its commonly done that way around the league. Here's the explanation I've heard from a center on how the silent count works:
1. QB gives the "count: in the huddle
2. QB raises his leg to signify he's ready
3. Guard (in our case) looks for that cue and taps the center
4. The center bobs his head which signifies the beginning of the count
5. All players on offense countdown in their head whatever the "count" was. Hence silent count.
6. the ball is snapped

As you can imagine you're pretty limited in what count you can use, you can't have 5 guys counting backwards from 20 and expect them to all hit the mark at the same time for example. So good d-linemen probably count too and know that if the snap count is getting too long they can easily jump the snap. The only way to counter this is to use a lot of dummy counts. People have claimed that Pouncey had a tell and the dummy counts are probably where that tell would show up. If he raised his head differently for a dummy count as opposed to a real one defenses will know when its a dummy and still have a big advantage.

new year, new scheme, new result. lets get it done. cant wait

Of course the last time we played them the entire team decided to **** itself, not just Tannehill.

If the Dolphins want to be considered a legitimate playoff team this is one of those games that they have to win. It's time for Tannehill to take that next step.

Come on, as many changes that we've had this offseason there's no logical reason to compare this years team success vs a particular team based on the way we played them in the years before. New offensive line, new offensive coordinator, an effective back in Moreno, I'm not relying on old stats to predict the outcome of this game and honestly I don't think Tannehill is either!
