With the recent purging of half the receiving targets for Ryan Tannehill, I`ve seen alot of posts expressing concern about the lack of chemistery that might be following such an important turnaround. I mostly agree with that notion although I beleive this will take Tannehill to the next level when you look beyond the first few games of the season. Especially when you take into account that ALL the replacements and the ones they kept are relatively young and still willing to learn. One thing Hartline, Wallace and Gibson had in common is that they had more experience than Tannehill, and were in some way disgruntled. Wether you want to blame Tannehill for that situation is irrelevent, malcontents hardly ever work in the direction of TEAM goals, it doesnt mean they are not team players, its just that their state of mind at the moment is not prone to prioritize Team work and goals over self-preservation. Tannehill is now going to work with players who are younger than him, and have something to prove. I firmly beleive that the best way to master something is actually teaching it, it makes you have to know all the ins and outs of the trade. The new options are coming in expecting big thing things, with a positive attutude... Its a fresh start for everyone involved in the passing game, I think thats valuable, and may very well the best thing that could`ve happen to Tannehil. Most guys dont get that chance coming out of college, they get one shot and if it doesnt work out they`re gone... While Tannehill hasnt earned elite or franchise status, he`s certainly earned a shot to run his ship, with a crew thats willing to cooperate IMO... Time to put up or shut up!

I didn't look at it that way, but it's a great point. Now to translate that on the field, is a whole other story!

Come on now. Now we are attacking the age/experience of former wide receivers?
Hartline is 2 years older and has just barely three years more experience in the NFL.
Gibson is barely a year older than Tannehill and also played only 3 years longer in the NFL.
And Wallace is like Hartline: 2 years older and 3 years longer in the NFL.

You are not talking about WRs in their mid/late 30s with 10 years plus in the NFL. By all standards they were all a somewhat young group.

Before we are talking about Tannehill being a mentor for anybody he should become a franchise QB first. You know: translate all that potential and talent into an onfield performance. And until that time he is a player like everybody else and subject to criticism and no mentor for anybody.

I didnt attack anybody... My point was those 3 were disgruntled, for whatever reason, and that staying the course with those players wasnt benificial for anybody, the team, Tannehill and themselves... Further more that Tannehill was getting an opportunity to lead and teach the new additions the offense and the system. Which is great for the development of our starting QB... You disagree with that?
