Saban inherited a 4-12 team !

Mangini inherited a 4-12 team too. And they're still alive for the playoffs on the second to last week of the season, more than could be said for last year's Dolphins team (and this year's team makes last year's team look like world beaters).

Stop making excuses for Saban. He made a handful of awful decisions this year-- with the QBs, with the offensive coordinator, with the team's overall malaise coming out of the gates that led to us being in a 1-6 hole before we even started playing at the level of a mediocre team.

If he turns it around, good. If not, then he's out of here (like the majority of college coaches who don't do a thing in the pros) and the Dolphins are right back where we started-- a bad team that needs to be rebuilt (and with JT and ZT three or four years older than they were when Saban took over).

Where have you been? I have been out here mostly all alone fighting this battle making the same points. Thanks for the reinforcements...

when he finally DID have some manuevering room...this last offseason, he took more action than I can recall in twenty years...to say there was no effort is to ignore what actually happened. It seems all you, "he didn't rebuild" guys ignore the reality and address it with your madden fantasies. Every single chance he got to upgrade our talent he has jumped on it...now, some haven't worked out for sure...but there was NO lack of effort.

Note to CNC66...You don't get rewarded for effort. You get rewarded for results. You think Rich Kotite didn't try? You think Mike Tice didn't try? Dave Wannstedt didn't try? They all tried. They all failed. Bottom line...you get paid for you efforts being successful. Thats all.

There's no point fighting this battle right now.

The Saban supporters have all of their eggs in the Culpepper basket and that issue won't be resolved for another eight months. Of course, one would think that going into Saban's third year as coach with no definitive answer at QB would be a point of concern, but all of his supporters have convinced themselves that Culpepper will be in the Pro Bowl next year and only his lingering injury caused him to play worse than Fiedler ever did. And, in fairness, Saban's putting his job on the line here; if Culpepper's performance doesn't turn around, it's going to be curtains for both of them.

In a season where he's done very little right, the best move Saban made all year was convincing the fanbase that all of Culpepper's problems were due to his injury, and that another year of rehab is going to turn him into a field general that can take this team to the Super Bowl. He would be smart to keep Mularky around just in case the team belly flops out of the gates next year too; he would make the perfect scapegoat for the offense's problems.
