"I've known Charles Rogers since he was in the 10th grade, so I didn't have any new impressions of him," Saban said. "He's a big guy, he runs fast and he did a nice job in the workout. It was good to see him again."

He wasn't signed, that's a good way of Saban saying "goodbye" to a guy he's known for a long time after a terrible workout.. Gruden said he was horrible at the Tampa workout last week. He hasn't gotten magically better in a week drinkin booze every night.

There another thread that said he was not impressive in workout.

well, if he cant make the team, then he CANT MAKE THE TEAM!! right? so, its agreed...we should not give this cat any cashesh.

It sounded to me that the work out was more of a courtesy thing. since he has known Rogers for so long.

My point was, Saban wasn't courteous enough to give him a contract.. Now that's 3 teams who don't want Rogers in ten days.. It doesn't take a blind man to see why.

Someone has the wrong story. John Clayton on ESPN said Rogers was not impressive in his workout and looked slow. Then Nick apparently said himself that he was impressed with Rogers. That Rogers was big and fast and looked good. Fox Sports reported that part. Who knows???

Well , when other teams hear that Rogers is flying out of Miami to the next bar in an airport, they will know Saban was full of it because this big, fast and talented receiver didn't sign with Miami as Saban obviously didn't think he was better than Russell .

The bottomline is what counts.

Saban is a nice guy, and treats everyone with respect. He's not going to give the kid a bad name through the media. However, it appears that Saban was not impressed with him at all. He's a typical case of someone who decided to take the money and slack off/give up

Maybe Nick said good things about Rogers with the hope that Rogers can catch on with an NFL team. Won't be with the Dolphins though.

Rogers isnt a known factor on special teams, so he isnt going to knock Russell off the roster. So to open a spot for Rogers would mean letting someone go at another position. The only real option due to inuries (we need extra OL and DB cover) would be DT. So unless a move is made there, we wont be signing an extra WR anytime soon.

The whole Rogers thing is mainly to update their scouting reports, and to keep him in mind either if they need an extra guy due to injury, or as a future contract guy at the end of the year. I'd actually consider signing him at the end of the year and sending him to NFL Europe, it would be a good test of his commitment.

The whole "It was nice to see him again" sounds as if a family member stopped by for a week before leaving to go home in Switzerland..
