...regarding player negotiations, draft scenarios, etc. it seems he sets his targets/goals early, but always has alternatives. then, he publicly pursues the alternatives to lessen the power that the targets and their agents have. he wants brees, but let's the world know he's ok pursuing back up plans (culpepper, schaub). he wants mare to take a paycut, so he shows he serious about cutting him by entertaining vanderdonkey. he did the same thing with the draft last year by chatting with braylon edwards (allegedly). it's good negotiating, but it also means we shouldn't jump at every player visit to miami. not great for our nerves...
