[FONT=Verdana,Arial, Helvetica]DAVIE -- Dolphins coach Nick Saban met with Manny Wright on Tuesday in what could be a major step toward the defensive tackle rejoining the team.

"We're trying to find a way to get all the parties on the same page," agent Peter Schaffer said Tuesday night. "The Dolphins are bending over backward in trying to help Manny out. I think Manny has turned the corner in terms of getting back on his feet and getting ready to play football and moving on with his life.

Saban seems to do more for players that most coaches. I am not sure if it is a take from his college coaching days but he really seems to care about their welfare.

He sure cares a lot more than some people here do.

I hope Wright gets back on his feet and can eventually contribute something. I'm more comfortable having him on the team than I am Marcus Vick.

Everyone on the outside looking in said nick had a "god complex" when he commented on the manny situation. When in reality he is trying his best to help the guy out. nick felt that going to another team would not fix things and that manny could overcome his problems with professional help.

Nick Saban seems to be doing everything he can for Manny and it's commendable. Of course he's tied into having to do what suits the organisation but, at the moment anyway, that seems to be what's likely to be best for Manny too.

Manny most likely (And obviously I'm reading between the lines as I'm not him, have never met him and don't know his personal feelings) has the idea that going somewhere else will make things all better for him, like some miracle solution. Unfortunately, that's not the case as he's not going to be better off with another team. I would imagine it's just this horrible situation he's mentally in which he wants to escape. It's not like he's got anything against the Dolphins and he's even said so. What Nick Saban is doing seems to be a very mature and considerate way to treat this situation and I only wish I had worked somewhere with a boss like him.

I do believe the only harsh comments Saban made were that players dont determine their future in terms of where they go.. but the teams do.

I can't remember a single time when saban said publicly he didnt support Manny in treatment and development.
And to be honest. Perhaps his silence in the issue may have promoted negative talk here... but he is trying to filed a team for the upcoming season. Im sure he focusing on players who are actually in camp.

IMO those were not harsh comments but simply a reassurance from Saban that Miami would not tolerate any T. Owens type players or situations in Miami, not that M. Wright is another T. Owens by any means.

I knew this would happen. Because Manny has a psychological problem, Saban will get very proactive in this process. That's right up his alley.

hes just tough on the players and some of the players just cant take it

If Saban sounded harsh it was because Manny was attempting to break all ties, refusing offers of help in the process. He was seeing no therapist, refusing the team's help, and just being AWOL hanging out at his cousin's place, asking to be traded. I don't care how sorry you feel for a guy, in that situation he deserves a little harshness for not even taking the backward-bending help of the team in order to try and resolve his problems...and then asking to be traded.

And yes Nick Saban has a god complex, but it's a good thing he does because it allows him to do his job well.

I was a big Manny supporter. I hope he gets help but I really don't see him helping us now. He should be put on the PS and if he is ready next year then maybe give him another shot but he has put himself in a pretty big hole.

Put on the practice squad? He'd have to be waived before he could be put on the practice squad which means any one of the 31 other teams could claim him on waivers. Manny has a very treatable condition. Medication and therapy is what would work. It's not like he has a terminal disease that can't be fixed.

Let me rephrase. I supported Manny against the posters. Saban has done the right thing from the start and should be commended for his beleifs and actions on the situation.

Manny has the talent to be a great DT every time he got in the game last year he was getting pressure on the QB or forcing the Rb to go in a different direction. I think Saban sees him as his starting DT next year. He just has to ride the pine a little this year
