Sorry...this is just an observation. I know there was someone on this board awhile back who always made fun of Wanny's use of the term "standpoint"...you know, "from a team standpoint, i thought we played well", etc. Well, the more i read Saban's comments, the more i notice his incessant use of the word "standpoint"....what is it with these guys?

Yes Wanny did you use that one, and on the positive side of things.

The word "standpoint" with NFL coaches is as common as the word "execute" with NBA players. i dont think they can help themselves.

I actually find a lot of similarities between them... the difference is how Saban sells it, and the way he carries himself.

Are YOU gonna make fun of him to his face about saying standpoint? Hell no. Now wanny on the other hand, if he was here right now, I'd make so much fun of him he's run his fingers through his hair until it fell out, then go cry in the corner.

Coach Saban also uses the word "relative"

Yes.That word is more characteristic of him.I am almost waiting for it to be uttered.

I think that was post #17 for me, (I don't post very often)...but I dont recall if I have ever said hi to the members of this group....So here is a group HELLOOOOOO, from Mississippi. :)

Hey, I have no problem with whatever Saban says. He seems to be one of the most well spoken, intelligent and commanding coaches. I think the only thing that would freak me out is if Saban peels away his outer skin and for Wanny to come step forward. Now, that would be a nightmare.:goof:

relative to overusing phrases from a head coaching standpoint he might outdo Wanny-I definitely don't wanna be the one who tells him though-I might cry like Manuel Wright

That was one heckuva post. You win the "Lobster Trap" award for that one! :rofl3:

Let me try:

From a coaching standpoint, we are trying to be successful. We want to put guys in position to be effective, and to give them the greatest chance to succeed, and that will bring success in a team standpoint.

How's that?

Nope, didn't use "relative to." It should read:

From a coaching standpoint, we are trying to be successful. We want to put guys in position to be effective, and to give them the greatest chance to succeed, relative to what will bring success in a team standpoint.
