I am very tired of reading the unrealistic expectations that have been poseted on this site by people who for some uknown reason thought Saban would walk in here the first year and somehow transform this Wanny/Speilman mess into a good team. So I ask all you that bash him what would you consider a good job by Saban the first year? Playoffs? .500?
I think this team has been competitive with the exception of yesterday's game (I was there in Cleveland and it was bad -- you don't think the bronco's came out flat) but that happens in the NFL. For god's sake you think Bronco fans are not saying "how the hell did those Dolphin's crush us the first week?" So what a bad cleveland team beat us yesterday. The key question should be whether we are moving in the right direction and have we improved and is there hope for further improvment. I think we have and I point out the following to support it:
1. running game
2. offensive line
3. draft picks
The reality, in my opinion is that this was ALWAYS going to be a rebuilding year given our prior regime and last years salary cap situation. The fantasy was that we were somehow going to be a playoff team this year with the mess that Saban inherited.
