Ive seen a lot of posts both for and against Saban and there are good cases made on both sides. One thing that i see against Saban is that he cant seem to get the STUPID penalties under control.
One of the head coaches main responsebilities is to set the tone of discipline for the team. Stupid penalties are a matter of discipline not skill and we have way too many, and i dont mean just because an OL player is playing a new position. To me this is the undeniable strike against Saban that may leave all his other pros suspect.
Thoughts...

Saban is not the problem in this organization, he is the

solution. Everything that he represents and effuses to his players are what an organization needs to succeed. He is a great football coach and the people saying he should leave don't know that it takes more than 2 years to turn around a culture of mediocrity that has lasted 10 years. I will probably take 4 to 5 years to undue the damage that Johnson and Wanstedt inflicted on the team. Remeber how bad Wanstedt left the bears before joing the dolphins. Anyone who has heard nick speack know that this is a very intelligent calculating individual who communicates himself very well. The players are the problem not him. His only fault is the mistake that every coach thinks, and that is they really believe that they can turn mediocre athletes into great players. He should have never given wanstedts core all the opportunities that he has given them.

Im not saying fire Saban. I say give him his chance, and agree he's got a lot going against him. What i am saying is he must discipline this team better. You keep making these stupid penalties and you ride the pine, at best.

I wouldn't say that Saban is a poor coach, but I would say is without question currently doing an awful job. Obviously the players have a lot to do with it but at this point much of the team is Sabans so let's stop pointing the finger at what's his name. Could we be better with some of the lost draft choices....of course, but I don't see this year's #1 doing much to crack a line up of an average or below average secondary. Should we blame Mularkey? Yes, but whom decided to hire this guy? Whom continues to allow the unbeleivably bad play calling?

I want to beleive in Saban, but he has given us precious little to hang our hats on. The penalties and turnovers are a direct result of a lack of disapline. Would anyone say that coming into this year the Jet's, Bills, Saints Green Bay had a better team of players? I doubt it yet all of them are better records, and someme ultimately is responsible.

At this point the only acceptable direction of this team is to rebuild. Start the young players and see if we can get something for what we currently have. As much as it sickens me, I think Zach and Jason should be shopped for draft picks. Give them a chance to win it all, and get something going for the future.
