when asked why after early success with the spread offense the dolphins went away from it and nick said simply "i don't know."

then he elaborated a little by saying the vikes went to dime personnel vs our spread sets and we weren't able to get it goin again and get the rythem back.

finally, what really bothered me is he said "and you can't run from them," meaning you can't run from spread sets. to quote the great denny green, ********!!!

this is the exact reason we aren't an explosive offense like we could be. we have a defensive guru head coach, and as much as he knows about defense, he knows equally as little about offense. the same can be said about our offensive coordinator, except defensive part.

our spread sets have zero variation and zero versatility. there are no spread formations from under center virtually eliminating any real running threat. i'd love to see ronnie getting a normal handoff from 3 and 4 wide ace formations (single back) with some room to run and 6 DBs on the field. that would be fun to watch. but no, when our OC runs, he wants to do it from jumbo sets vs 8 and 9 guys in the box.....then PA with little dumps to the TE in the flat which is great and all, it got us a TD, but at the end of the day the offense still only scored 10 points...

our spread passing game can be very effective from the shotgun. i believe it can be equally as effective from under center, and explosive with a running threat like brown.

exactly. never would work...ronnie needs a blocker...hes at his best with two men in the backfield

NFL Rank - 17th

AFC Rank - 7th

The only teams in the AFC Conference ranked higher are as follows....

Colts / Chargers / Steelers / Patriots / Bengals / and Chiefs....

I'm not sure about everyone else here, but I'm satisfied....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

Our offense can only do so much with a backup QB at the helm. JH is not good enough to put up alot of points. We are gonna have to rely on our defense for the rest of the season and then in the offseason we need to find ourselves an above average QB whether it be DC or someone else.

The spread was working great for us but I figured they made some adjustments so we went away from it. With a back as big as ronnie... spreading out the defense would be a good thing. But our OC sucks so...what can ya do.

I realize saban is Defensive minded but his philosophy is not a conservative one. It just so happens we have an OC that is conservative. Mularkey stinks.

Conservative means no imagination. It means playing scared; playing not to lose. Mularkey is, simply stated, another Dave Wannstedt. There has never been a worthwhile achievement without taking risks.

i would also like to see some more creative ways to get ronnie the balll and to keep the the defense guessing

I think we can find a way to give Ronnie the ball more but our O hasn't proformed that bad latley.

Well, We'd all like to see Joey make less negative plays. However, it was Peele's stupid clip that nullified a 58 yard touchdown. Who's fault was that fumble on the two? Take those two plays away and you've got to figure that's at least 10 more points and a different perspective on Joey's day. He was a monster in the first half...

nah i think the run and shoot is a bit extreme and way too shotgun happy. all im saying is showing some spread sets under center with a run and pass play called in the huddle with the versatility to adjust to the defensive look. there is so much you can do with 3wr 1te 1rb personnel it's crazy. we're too vanilla with it. it's our best personnel package, we should be more innovative with it. we should be creating mismatches with alignments or motion and unbalanced looks from the D that would really create some space for ronnie to work with.

Totally agree! Every team that has had alot of success against the Vikes have spread it out. Why would you not have copied NE's game plan. They were playing 4 and 5 wide late in the 4th qtr when the game was more than over. They asked Belicheck afterwards why and he said - because that was our game plan. He didn't vary and we shouldn't have either. This game should not have been so close. We should have been at least 3 wide every down. I've said this before - there are 2 ways to line up on O - 2 wide and pack it in and try to run it down their throats or spread it out and force the D to spread out. You may become open to blitzing but if you have good reads and get up to the line early enough you should be able to beat them. The WR's were into the game arly and seemed to be catching everything - we should give these guys a chance to get into the flow and break out. I agree it would be fun to see RB break through the line and be running downfield against DB's.

thecoordinator, that's why we hired perhaps the best OL coach and a successful offensive coordinator in Mike Mularky. It's the ****ing talent... er lack of.

"we have a defensive guru head coach, and as much as he knows about defense, he knows equally as little about offense."

So what you are saying is he either knows alot about offense because he knows alot about defense being a defensive guru, or you are saying he doesnt know anything about defense because he knows nothing about offense. The statement doesnt make sense, which is it

The ball slipped out of JHs hand on the fumble. It slipped out again later in the game but we got it back. Talk about blowing up your own momentum. Wow! The whole team was in shock for a while. After such a percise march down the field to have that happen is just so awful.
