OK I admit, I am a Dolphins homer. When I watch games, I see the positives no matter what. Thats just the kind of fan I am. My dad, also a Dolfan, is quite the opposite. He sees the negative in everything which I am sure you can imagine, irritates the hell out of me. However, I must admit, there are times when he is right and I am just being the eternal optimist fan. Anyway, my dad despised Dave Wannstedt and Jay Fiedler, like many of us. However, his biggest beef with Dave was ALWAYS the vanilla defense. I never truly understood until I watched some of Saban's D at work. WE HAVE BEEN BLITZING LIKE CRAZY AND I LOVE IT.

**Sorry, I pushed submit too early**

Anyway, to get back on point, I never noticed how conservative Wann was until now. I have loved our D so far. The QBs have NO time. Its actually like how I play on Madden. My brother always tells me, "thats unrealistic to blitz constantly! blah blah"... well, so far, our D looks friggin' aggressive and I am loving it. Imagine what our great Ds of the Wanny era could have been like with this type of system, where the goal is to get the QB on his ARSE! And how many late game collapses would have been avoided! It boggles the mind.

Go Saban- I am loving this D.

Funny what you say about you and your dad, cuz it is the same thing at my house. I just wanna punch him in the face when he says " Typical Dolphins, just typical ":rofl3:

So I see I am not the only one!

Drives me nuts!

Over on ESPN's Yankees message board, there is a guy who only shows up when the Yankees are playing poorly in one way or another. He has said, in one way or another, "Season Over" at least 30 times.

Remember Randy Quaid's character in Major League II? Every team has those "fans," though they're really anti-fans. Can't stand them at all.

"the VILE thing" haha hate baseball, but i love that movie.

Hey, if theres a pattern that no one is seeing, its that the older fan, the more cynical they are. Your parents saw some of the best dolphins teams ever assembled, and they all lived through all of marinos career. No wonder they concider the recent teams to be poor.

LOL At Randy Quaid in Major League

"They'll blow it in the playoffs!!..."

you haven't seen anything yet as sam madison indicated. and i haven't yet seen us line up as a 3-4 and players have lined up in their usual positions so far. so i have to believe madison.

yes, yes....the 3-4 defense...we have yet to see it....it is like saban has been concocting it in his little laboratory waiting for the perfect time to unveil it. It is the Dr. Jekyll defense...right now we are only veiwing Mr. Hyde...can't wait!

They threw the 3-4 in a little in each game. There was a LB playin down each time so it didn't really look like it.

Exactly- JT has been playing DE for the most part (I dont remember him lining up at LB once, as a matter of fact), and he has dropped back into coverage very rarely. So basically, you look at the difference in the D based on just some BLITZING, imagine the change we will see when the real season comes and you have guys lined up in the various formations etc.

And one more thing.. All the concerns about our secondary? I truly believe after watching this D that they were way overblown. Like some people say, the days of the shutdown corner in the NFL are over. It is all about the D-Line and LBs putting pressure on the QB, and I think we saw that against Pitts. It made even Reggie Howard look good and grab a pick. I think I am starting to see why Nick was fine with letting Pat go... he was a great player for us and I have all the respect in the world for him, but the money was better spent elsewhere, and the compensation we got in return was solid.

Curious, when it comes to the D, is it Saban calling the plays? I have looked on the sidelines, and I havent even seen Richard Smith for one second.. is it because he is up in the booth calling the plays, or is he basicall just a "paper tiger" (hehehe LSU Tigers..) with Saban calling the D. In contrast, I have seen lots of Will Muschamp on the sidelines (usually right by Saban's side) coaching and signalling hand motions to the D. He is our future coordinator, and he brings a lot of life to the sidelines. Nice to see. From the "Practice Hilights" on Dolphins Insider, it seems like he is the unofficial "Safeties Coach", as he is usually the guy working with them while Phillips and Saban deal with the corners. Anyway, just some random thoughts on the D...

No, we've seen the 3-4.

We havent seen alot of the more exotic stunts, formations, and alignments though, especially concerning Jason Taylor.
