The Miami Dolphins began their search for a new offensive coordinator Friday when former Buffalo Bills coach Mike Mularkey had a lengthy interview with Dolphins coach Nick Saban, a league source said.

The meeting started in the morning and was believed to have lasted into the evening.

I really think this is going to happen. Saban targeted Mularkey as soon as he knew he was resigning as Bills head coach.

IMO, I think Baggett will stay at his current position, which is "Assistant Head Coach/Offense/Wide Receivers." And Mike Mularkey, ladies and gents, is your new Miami Dolphins Offensive Coordinator.

Hmmm... what's his philosophy on offense?

Starts with the run, but is not afraid at all to air it out. He's agressive down the field.

In fact, I don't think we'll see many differences between his system and Linehan's.

Well that works since the backbone of our O is R&R and then we can open it up deep with our pro bowl reciever and tight end.

Sorry dude, didn't mean to steal your thunder.

I hope we hire Mularkey ASAP. I would MUCH rather him than Heimerdinger.

No No.. you're the man.. you broke it first.. the thunder is all yours my friend.. :)

and yes, I think i'd welcome Gary Stevens back before heimerdinger..

the afc east has been like one big angry family. coaches and to an extent, players are tossed around the division.

you got the back and forth of parcells, carroll and bill b.

then bill b.'s best friend coaches the fins. mangini go to the jets and now the bills are thrown into the mix if mularky gets hired

This is an old article from 2001 regarding Mularkey's background. Its a usenet post, the original article is no longer online.

Mularkey

I'm not against the hire from an offensive strategy standpoint at all. From what I remember, he will bring more balance than we had either under Wanny or Linehan.

I do wish I knew more about the inter-office stuff going down in Buffalo. I have read at least three different accounts of how it all went to hell.

Did his assistants undercut him to the players and he fired them for it before he quit? Or did he quit after the management made him fire them? Who knows?

I'm sure Nick will be sure there are no probs or he wouldn't hire him... but I am very curious how all that went down.

Another good thing about Mularkey... he's going to need two or three years to recover from his Bills gig, probably... so we'd have him for at least a while.

I guess anything is better than Kippy "I have no f****** idea how I got this job cuz I have no idea what the hell I am doing" Brown.
