I love Saban like all other fin fans but I just don't understand why he didn't have quality depth at this position. We are getting killed on the passing game and it's just going to get worse with Sam out. Why Saban liked Daniels so much is beyond me because Howard and Daniels are getting eaten up in the secondary

Travis was a positive kid at LSU not to mention a gamer. I dont know if he'll develop to the pro game or not but i wouldnt bet against him

saban will build the secondary two his liking over the years. Saban was working with some horrible cap restrictions this offseason, hence why we don't have depth and talent. now hes fixed the cap. he'll draft his guys. don't you worry. we'll have an awesome pass defense in a year or so.

agreed, he's a pretty serious coach.

Our secondary has had some bad injuries startng with Will Poole. Howard is terrible and Travis Daniels needs some time to improve. Even though he played with Saban in college there is no way ha can go pro that easily. The CB position is considered the hardest position by both players and coaches so give it some time. In a couple years i think Saban's master schemes will be in effect.

Thanks for the positive feed back.....good to know that there is hope.
I just can't stand these post saying that he is playing well for a 4th rounder. It doesn't matter what round you are drafted in. You are either playing good or bad and right now Daniels is playing bad. But I will trust Nick and his decision.

No problem. Travis always played 2nd fiddle here to Cory Webster but dont let that fool you, he was a helluva player. You are wise to trust Nicks judgment, especially regarding the secondary. We stayed in the top 5 or so defenses Nicks last few years here, not to mention #1 in scoring &#1 in total at the end of '03. Nicks Cleveland Brown D was also #1 when he was their coordinator. I'm not saying that Travis is his hand picked guy, he probably wanted to develop him but injuries are forcing him to play early.

Without me having to re-play the copy of the last game Saban coached for LSU...Can you tell me what corner blew the last minute score that cost LSU the Bowl game.

Yep, that was a baad play for Travis. Doesnt mean he is not a good player though, he also made a ton of plays in big games.

Frankly...I can't believe that the coaching staff didn't play the defense better knowing the other team had to throw. How do you play man on man...in the last moments of the game? I truely felt sorry for Travis.

this secondary is da worst i had seen da past 10 years. howard, daniels, and jackson are getting burned. and its even more worse. i wish we wouldve had signed bobby taylor when we had da chance

Actually the Hawks shouldnt have been trying to throw. Our guys were expecting a spike or t.o. and for them to be setting up the field goal. It was actually very poor clock management on their part, but they got the lucky strike.

I love how people are so quick to yell at Travis's play. A) He is a rookie B) a mid round draft pick and hes starting at that! I personally think hes doing very well adjusting to the game and will be a great starter in the very near future.
