Nick Saban seems to me like he wants to set this team up to be succesful for the long term while still keeping it simple. Kind of like the way NE does things. I mean it is fine to want big name players like TO, Bentley, Culpepper, Peterson, Wayne and Clements I am all for it, but at what exspense and how will that jepordize our teams salary cap now and in the long term. I just see Saban signing soem key players at positions we are slightly weak at, such as tackle, center, linebacker, safetys and corners, maybe even a DE to groom while Carter seems to be on the final years of his career. Key players that are not detremental to the team cap wise and can play a dominant role within the system. Im all for building this team through the draft, and signing some key FA's.

Good to see some level heads among the Culpepper and T.O. mania!

He runs the ship very well. The man is a complete genius, he will do whats best for the team. That is what I love about the guy.

It's all about the process. Make haste slowly. He will NOT jeopardize this team salary cap wish yet he will find the smartest players and best players that fit in his system. The DOLPHINS system. We have a coach and GM I believe that are on the same page in looking at the long term and not a quick fix, get into the super bowl and then self destruct afterwords like the Ravens or Rams.

I agree, No sence in hurting us bank wise or poor player wise. We need youth, team players and guys who will help us in the short and long term. Not just next season for big bucks

With Saban running the show in Miami I have gotten so excited in the future of this franchise. The Wanny era left a very bad taste in my mouth but Nick is the Listerine that is cleaning all the filth that was left behind. Instead of getting used to disapointment I am finally seeing a very bright future ahead for our Phins. He will be an even better coach than Shula was and I only wish that he would have been around during Marino's time. We have come around full circle and I truly believe that this next generation of Dolphins will take control of the AFC and be THE team to reckon with in the NFL. With that said I truly have faith in St. Nick and I believe that he will set up this team to be bringing home the ultimate present to all Miami fans this coming year...........The Vince Lomardi Trophy and winning it in Miami adding to the wonderful history of this Franchise. First team to win the coveted prize in thier own home field. All while keeping the youthfulness in mind for years to come.

Is it too soon to call him the second coming of Shula or should we wait one more year?

Do you think he will change his way of thinking. A great mind is a great mind. I love Shula but Nick is filling his shoes nicely in my opinion. I may be stepping out on a limb by comparing him to Don but it is more of a precise prediction of the future than a comparison. It is time to look forward and enjoy what we see. I was tired of drinking from the cup of the two ex Dallas coaches and am now drinking crystal clear Evian.

Maybe, but for now we can call him the first real coach since Shula.

The process thing always makes me laugh but it is so true. Everything the man does is calculated and he never deviates from his plan. We should be good for a long time. :dolphins:

the NE way of thinking is getting a little old.....I do rememebr bellichick taking a chance on a guy by the name of corey dillon....and he gave up a 2nd rounder for him....i think saban will do the right things for this franchise but i do expect a big name or 2 to be on our team next yrrealistically i dont see culpepper here or any other big name qb...i think he'll grab a guy for the future and stick with gusi do believe that we will get lecharles bentley....and thats the one guy i want, more than hutchinson...getting him and building through the draft with another one or two o-line prospects will make this line very scary for many yrsas for LB i think saban will once again grab a guy or 2 through the draft and not go after peterson or any other guysas for corner and S i think we will make a push in free agency...one guy i would love to see here is chris hope....him and shulters would make a very good tandem...as far as corner is concerned, the price tag may be too high for a big name FA and there are plenty of guys in this draft....cromartie is one guy everyone has seemed to forget due to his injury...this guy will be a shut down corner for yrs to comeD-line will be built through the draftthe leaves us to WR and the TO parade....I for one would be ecstatic if he's on our team and with saban running a tight ship i wouldnt doubt if he does come to miami...i think though he'll only come if we do get another QB and that may not happen (even though i like gus's long ball)if not TO then i think we'll go after randle el or david givensthis team will be very different next yr...in our need areas....IN SABAN I TRUST!!!!we will get big name FA's but we will NOT overpay!!! they wan't more money than they should get and he'll let them walk...

I can understand anyone's frustration with any fruit the Jimmah tree beared.

But,....Lets not diminish the accomplishments of a GREAT coach like Don Shula in an effort to put Nick on a premature pedestal. Shula has done a LOT of great things. Saban is just getting his feet wet.

Yes, I agree. It will be interesting to see what happens when free agency opens up in March. It will set the tone for the draft, for sure.

Good post. Except, I dont think we're too bad at Linebacker. Zack, Crowder, Pope, Moore..And at DE, we are grooming Matt ROth. To me, we're super thin at Corners and Safeties. Maybe a DT. And O-Line..

Agreed SS, people fail to realize how great Shula was. He took over a 3-10-1 team and coached them in the playoffs I believe his first year. But I do hope Saban's Dolphins career parallels the Chin's.

idk BBS I'd be surprised if Pope & Moore are on the roster come TC. Crowder is the only young big LB we have. I agree about the 2ndary though.
