If you really want to go shopping this season and fill a number of holes now you could sacrifice a portion of next years draft and go for it now. Simply trade Miami's first round pick in 2017 to St. Louis for the 43rd and 45th pick this year. You could then strike a similar deal with the Eagles, sending them Miami's 2017 second round pick for their two third round picks this season, numbers 77 and 79. Those two moves would leave Miami with the 13th pick, 42nd, 43rd, 45th. 73rd, 77th and 79th selections in the first three rounds of the 2016 draft.
That haul should produce three starters and four additional contributors right now. Not to mention Miami would still have picks in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th to select project players. I know a lot of people hate the idea of trading future early round draft picks, especially in a draft with some good running backs like the 2017 draft appears to be. However, by taking a chance now maybe one of those three second round picks, with the benefit of a years coaching and experience could prove to be a greater talent than some of the projected 2017 first round draft pool.
Heck if you wanted to you could still trade back in the first round this year and add a second or third round pick in this year's drat or in the 2017 draft to help recoup the future second round pick you traded away earlier.
If Miami did trade back and recoup a pick for next season, this years draft could produce:
Running back Derrick Henry, with a draft pick in the mid 20's. (Or if you prefer you could draft ilb Reggie Ragland and maybe spend one of your three second round picks on a rb like Alex Collins)
Corner Eli Apple, could be available in the second round
D. End Shaq Lawson
Guard Cody Whitehair
Linebacker Deion Jones
Safety Vonn Bell
Guard Joshua Garrett
And that's just in the first three rounds. With other five picks you could add receiver depth (Carro), take a shot at linebacker like Jaylon Smith, add a project corner (Sean Davis), add a tight end (Tyler Higbee) or maybe draft a third down back (DJ Foster).
