Keep bringing in the talent, if it doesn't work out, costs miami nothing,
That would be fantastic, but so many players never really come back from an Achilles injury, and Hooker has been an injury magnet, so I do think it's a longshot.Well if Hooker stays healthy, he's starting over Holland for sure. Realize that when I say that I actually do like Holland quite a bit. But, I was as high on Hooker at FS as I was of Minkah Fitzpatrick at FS ... IMHO the two best FS prospects to come along in 10+ years. Before them, Earl Thomas was the last FS prospect that I really loved.
Yeah, I think that is right. But at New England Coach Flo loved to use 3 safeties on the field at a time, and nominally, one of them was a Nickel Back or Dime Back depending on personnel. I see Holland fitting into the role that Coach Flo wanted to use Minkah Fitzpatrick in--flexing between FS/NB/SS with the versatility to give an offense different looks without being able to 100% identify the coverage. McCain has some of that versatility, but Holland is even more versatile. Hooker would be the single high safety guy with elite speed and recognition to deny 3/4ths of the deep field by himself. That allows Coach Flo to play quarters and combo-coverages with all kinds of varying schemes.didn’t Holland play like 64% of his snaps at nickel?
Eric Rowe was brought in as a CB and managed to carve out a couple seasons as starting Safety.Eric Rowe has been a great pickup. I'll definitely be upset if they let him go.
Dolpins better be careful being cut throat with every contract. If I was a FA, why would I sign with a GM that turns over every FA after a year or two?
This better just be kicking the tires on a 1 year prove it contract. I don't trust Achilles injuries.
..... Surely our humor is better than thisWill they ask him if his mom is a Hooker?
The business can be cruel sometimes, because Rowe really played well last year for the Phins.I really like Eric Rowe, but I understand Miami has to make some salary-cap moves as well.
Not a freaking chance...... Surely our humor is better than this
Not sure about where everyone fits in, FS, SS, Slot. But I'll tell you this, if one guy has to go, if should be McCain, not Rowe. The business can be cruel sometimes, because Rowe really played well last year for the Phins.
This is an interesting visit.
I have maintained that it would be risky to release McCain before we know what we have in Holland. If Holland face-plants, we'd have no back up plan.
Hooker could be that backup plan. Signing him to a low dollar contract and allowing him to come to camp and compete would REALLY put the heat on McCain.
I'm going to disagree with that.Hooker and Holland play safety rather differently. Hooker is more of a FS high type while Holland will be our down low Rowe replacement. I agree with you that Hooker is being brought in to compete with McCain, but Rowe is Holland's predecessor. Not Mccain.
