Why are the Dolphins Safetys never able to help the CB's when they are being beat by the other teams offensive players. It always seems that our Safteys are so far away from the ball when it is thrown to a wide reciever on the opposing team. The safteys are always in the chase but never seem to get there in time to make the play until the ball is caught; then they sometimes make the tackle. I hope something is done about their poor positioning and angles they take to the ball when it is in the air. I think the Fins have the talent but are not using it to their advantage. Lets not give up on our team. Go Fins!:dolphins:

safties arent always over the top to give help to the CBs.

I think that if we are trying to rely man to man now, like we used to with Madison and Surtain, we just don't have that kind of talent back there. Especially against burners like Matt Jones and Lee Evans. Yea Will Allen got burned by those 2, but considering the time to throw from the QB and the absolute SPEED they possess, I mean 95 percent of the corners, at least, are toast on both plays he gets heckled for. The problem is, we bring the safety on the blitz and leave one safety back short, and we just got no penetration at all on Leftwich in the preason or Losman on Sunday on either play. Will Allen has been better than advertised IMO, I didn't know about his stellar run support D and sure tackling, I heard nothing but bad things, he was an upgrade over Madison (considering Sam's age) and will only get better. Definetly alot of miscommunication going on there in the secondary still.

I realize that but maby they should be more often because the Dolphins are always being burned for the long ball.:dolphins:

then that takes away the blitz. we are a blitzing defense and thats our style. IMO, having the right blitzes and blitzers can help hide the lack of talent in your secondary. which it obviously has done somewhat for us the past 2 years.

The defense gave up 171 yards total offense the entire game, trust me, you can keep reaching for answers but the defense is not the problem.

I agree that blitzing can help a weak secondary. However, have you noticed who is blitzing? Zach Thomas. I don't ever think Zach had "blitzing abilities" under his strong categories. It's almost a waste to blitz him. Personally, I like to see are corners come on the blitzes and have Zach drop back in coverage.

But these 171 yards do no include a 50 yard pass interference which was the result of a blown assignment by a saftey.
And some interceptions wouldn't hurt either. It's not only about the yards. But our defense is not the main problem, i agree with you.
