Funny that all of us are so pumped about the trade, but in reading the Saints forum, it looks like most of them are pumped about the trade too. See: http://saintsreport.com/forums/f2/s...nell-ellerbe-338991/index11.html#.VQORAlPF-Bs

In a nutshell, they turned a 5th round pick into a 3rd round pick (in a draft deep at WR) and a possible starting LB. They sent out a guy in his 3rd year of his rookie contract for a new player who will be in the 1st year of his rookie contract. They all seem to like Stills, but don't think he's a 1 or any type of go-to alpha WR.

Offseason is great. Everyone is happy. All 32 teams have optimism.

They made the trade because they thought it made sense for them. So, they like it.

I love this trade. Maybe ellerbe could get back to 2012 form. He's a good guy. He loves his shoes.

Kenny stills is a hell of a player. I wanted him when he was in the draft. He plays angry kinda reminds me of Landy a little, not quite on landrys level but young as well. Also we saved more money so we win haha!

They think Ellerby is a good pickup. And the grass is always greener....

I can see why they are positive. They are essentially getting two for one. Ellerbe restructured which shows he has a positive attitude about playing there. I agree that Stills is a 2 not a 1. We need to find that 1 probably in the draft. We still might find a cheaper vet but our 1 will have to come in the draft.

Although I will say this and I have been consistently saying it. Our OL needs first priority. If we solidify our OL (like Dallas did) we don't necessarily have to have a stud 1 WR. New England is our best example. We have lots of weapons already especially if Clay resigns. Depending how the draft falls we probably go OG at 14 and either DB or WR rd 2.

And he is, assuming he can stay healthy. Look at how bad their D was last year.

Big upgrade for them.

2 years ago a Ravens fan I know laughed at me that we paid Ellerbe all that money.

Today he texted me with "Now you can appreciate why I was laughing."

But hey, maybe the Saints use Ellerbe better than Kevin Coyle did? *shrug*

For all that I hate Coyle for, I'm positive he doesn't scheme for his LB's to miss most of their tackles.

Some of the Saints fans say they don't care about Ellerbe...they're happy with a 3rd round pick straight up for Stills. Again, they say they turned a 5th round pick into a 3rd and that Stills was partially a product of the Saints system. Ellerbe making the team is just icing on the cake. Maybe like Chip Kelly, they think they can draft a better WR and make him a star b/c he plays w/ Drew Brees.

Most fans try and rationalize everything that happens. I've done it. A lot here have too. Nothing really to see here.

The rationale from 95% of the guys here was "Ellberbe was being groomed to take over Ray Lewis's spot!". It was endless.

Dolphin fans are always optimistic. We have been mediocre so long, it's going to our heads
