***Saints/Phins Post Game***

I was actually thinking about this on my dog walk this morning. I'm wondering if Tua did want to retire until he realised he would need to give a bunch of money back (Miami could chase him for his prorated signing bonus at least) but if he gets cut he gets to keep all that money.

His regression has been so drastic that this is where my brain is going trying to make sense of how someone could become so bad almost overnight. It's everything about his game, his pre-snaps reads, his footwork, the velocity on his passes, how inaccurate he has suddenly become. My brain just can't make sense of it in that he is either broken physically or he just doesn't want to play any more and wants cut.
If I read on ESPN this morning that Tua is retiring it would not shock me in the least. Some here are saying he’s lazy, or dumb, fat and happy because he got the big contract. Not buying it. I agree with you that his physical regression is stunning and highly unusual for a 27 year old. I think he’s done physically and mentally. Pin this post to review after the season is over. I am not a reader of minds, just someone who has eyes and pays close attention to details.

If that's the case he's also a miserable piece of sh*t human being.

Is it not more of a case of that fans are so angry with the franchise that we are picking up every perceived ill and highlighting them?

Not sure how the end of the half proved McDaniel is not an NFL coach, it proved to me he's a coach who doesn't trust his QB to not make a bonehead play. Also, if you think that was almost unwatchable, go and watch the Vikings trying to play offense on Sunday. Watching Redzone every week I see a whole lot of crap play around the league, not just our Dolphins.

I also think Tua's play yesterday wasn't even worthy of a high end backup, that was Skylar Thompson levels of play.
Yep. McD has definitely dumbed down the offense and turned Tua into a game manager. Regardless, Tua is not playing well and even making short throws are a challenge. I think if we lose another game and are officially out if contention we need to start Ewers to see what we have. Tua is done.

The insane thing is that he’s on the verge of not even being an athlete at this point. Looks more like he came down from the stands to give it a shot at QB. No twitch. No escapability. No fluidity. Every move looks like the struggle of a non-athlete.
Every 40 year old QB in the NFL is more mobile and more athletic than Tua. This is a fact.

Dude, that's a little harsh, don't you think? Tua's head has been scrambled at least 4 times. His body (not NFL type) has been beat the f up. POS human being? I know we're all pissed and cynical as Dolphins fans, but go outside and get some fresh air.

I have degrees and certifications in kinesiology, exercise science, nutrition and more, I’ve trained hi level athletes for a decade and worked for a division 2 football program in their strength and conditioning dept.

I’ve studied movement and genetics of pro athletes for 30 years with relentless passion

I believe I have proprietary methods to study prospects, their skillset, their mindset and their genetics.

I respect you because of what you are doing and have accomplished to go on record of who you are.

I wanted Tua as much as the next guy but I have been commenting on him as an athlete for many years since college and at this point and time my concerns have come to fruition

Tua’s genetics demand serious hi level attention to detail and strength and conditioning.

Basically he carrries weight in a disproportionate way.

I’m on the record saying if this guy does not commit to his craft and train very hard he will never win a championship for a team and never reach his potential.

This offseason I said he needed to do three things to evolve his game and get better

1) Change the body fat ratio big time and focus on being lean and quick, I say that because I believe he’s about 15-20% body fat, and that’s based on his body and his musculature, and seeing him in person close up over 50 times.. yes I obsess over this ****, when you are supposed to be our franchise qb it’s part of how I fan.

2) learn when to run so you can establish the threat.. this could of been attained if he did #1.

3) Step up in the pocket off the back foot when sensing pressure and clear the lane to throw.

He has done none of the three

**** him and the Diaz brothers

I don’t have the degrees and knowledge you do but as a sports nut for 50 years I think you nailed it. I posted this before but an anecdote that resonated with me was Chris Mullin the basketball player. He was a stud college player at St John’s. He got off to a rocky NBA start and then turned it around. In a long piece about him, he explained that he lacked athleticism. So his solution was to literally work out like a maniac. Insane time on the step machine and all the other workouts. Then he thrived. His feeling was that he wasn’t going to be as athletic so he absolutely had to be in perfect condition.

The same couldn’t be more true for Tua. He’s not blessed with a rocket arm or movement skills. He needed to have followed the Chris Mullin approach to get his body in perfect condition.

His core and legs could make a huge difference in his arm strength and mobility. Instead he’s done the opposite as anyone can see. It is quite evident that he got paid and that’s all it ever was for him. The results show all that.

I personally don’t think he’d ever walk away from the money.

I don’t know anything about Nick Hicks or his performance lab. I’ve heard people say that he’s a head case but I am not educated on him.

Why did Tua part ways with him? It seems off because that’s when he was a better player and in better shape.

Yeah that’s over the top. Tua is a class act, a man of faith and a family man. I can think of a helluva lot worse character traits than those.

I don’t think so, either.

I recall after the most recent concussion proposing that the Dolphins should try to negotiate a settlement with him that was substantial enough to make him consider walking away. Would take a good medical team and solid diagnosis. Cap consequences be damned. Make it worth his while to retire.

Signed the contract, do the work. Signing it and literally giving up on the team makes him an absolute piece of ****. We have younger guys that would kill for an opportunity like that for far less money.

I say this as someone who thinks Tua is a decent person outside of football and I will give him the benefit of the doubt to say he's not doing that. But anyone who signs a contract and does not fulfill their obligation letting down their teammates, fans and everyone involved solely for money, yeah. We've had a bunch of those walk through Miami over the past couple years.

Very familiar with Mullen story and you are correct.

It’s what he had to do, and he didn’t, and doesn’t, to me that’s ripping your company off and the fans.

That’s why I don’t like him cause I don’t respect him

Need I remind you of my posts on this? What if Tua is doing the best he can after numerous head injuries and a serious hip injury? What if he isn’t coasting? It’s my strong opinion that his skills have diminished significantly, and it has nothing to do with his contract. We saw almost the exact same scenario play out with Russell Wilson. The stunning difference is that Tua is 27 years old. I am hoping the team offers him an injury settlement after the season and we move on.

I believe the team made him stop working with him, could be wrong though.

Injury settlements don't work the way you are thinking.
