***Saints/Phins Post Game***

I was actually thinking about this on my dog walk this morning. I'm wondering if Tua did want to retire until he realised he would need to give a bunch of money back (Miami could chase him for his prorated signing bonus at least) but if he gets cut he gets to keep all that money.

His regression has been so drastic that this is where my brain is going trying to make sense of how someone could become so bad almost overnight. It's everything about his game, his pre-snaps reads, his footwork, the velocity on his passes, how inaccurate he has suddenly become. My brain just can't make sense of it in that he is either broken physically or he just doesn't want to play any more and wants cut.
regressing when he’s approaching his prime, in the same system is hard to understand.

He could want out and he’s doing all he can on the field to show it. He’s accumulating many examples of lackadaisical play when it should be the opposite.

Could also be his approach to his craft has caught up with him.

Could be both

Like how after last season do you approach the offseason the way he did.

He knows how bad this franchise has been the last two decades, he knows how bad they have disappointed us the past four years, he knows they “ showed him the money” despite the risks.

Ready to move on

Need I remind you of my posts on this? What if Tua is doing the best he can after numerous head injuries and a serious hip injury? What if he isn’t coasting? It’s my strong opinion that his skills have diminished significantly, and it has nothing to do with his contract. We saw almost the exact same scenario play out with Russell Wilson. The stunning difference is that Tua is 27 years old. I am hoping the team offers him an injury settlement after the season and we move on.
Love the injury settlement idea.

Don’t believe what we’re seeing is because of his hip or head jmo, I think that’s what he wants us to believe this him saying that to the media this year

I would hope that is the case to be honest. Like I said, if he were playing down on purpose that would make him a piece of sh*t in my opinion. Otherwise I'm with ya, he's just at the end of his road and he needs to retire. Injury contract is fine, but he is not in the injury reports, so it's all highly suspicious. He didn't just all the sudden suck eggs.

If he truly isn't able to continue he should retire and forfeit the money. Anything else is just evidence of the contrary the way I see it.

Yeah that’s over the top. Tua is a class act, a man of faith and a family man. I can think of a helluva lot worse character traits than those.
Tua in multiple press conferences with excuses and blaming others and his show me the money moment?

Yeah, sure, a real class act

Signed the contract, do the work. Signing it and literally giving up on the team makes him an absolute piece of ****. We have younger guys that would kill for an opportunity like that for far less money.

I say this as someone who thinks Tua is a decent person outside of football and I will give him the benefit of the doubt to say he's not doing that. But anyone who signs a contract and does not fulfill their obligation letting down their teammates, fans and everyone involved solely for money, yeah. We've had a bunch of those walk through Miami over the past couple years.
How do you know he hasn’t done the work? You don’t. Is he worth $52M/year? No but we ate stuck with him unless we want to eat the 52mil

IMO McD knows the situation and so does Ross. They are just trying to figure out how to get out of his ridiculous contract.

This whole conversation is a what if, im not using it as a proof of concept, im saying if he is not doing the work and mailing it in, he is a piece of sh*t. To be determined I suppose.

There is literally no evidence of this. However there is plenty of evidence that he has regressed physically, as he has tanked in almost every passing metric. I think his body is done, which is affecting his confidence, and I also think McD has to know it. Now they are just trying to figure out how to move on from him.

I like Tua as a person, but this game has undoubtedly taken a toll on him. He loves the game of football, and that's admirable, BUT that can only take you so far. His repercussions from his concussions has already been evident and will only get worse as time passes. That being said, we are structuring the offense around him not taking hits, and everyone knows it. It's handicapping McDaniel's play calling and the offense as a whole

I think his body being done is his own fault and I don’t think it’s because of the injuries sustained

Exactly. Photos before camp, his general demeanor, his smiles after blown series, his press conferences, the accountability, and on and on and on.

Sure, we dont know when he trains or what he trains but when you look at Tua in totality, its certainly suspicious.

100 percent.

I don't think he's smart enough to think that far ahead

Is he letting the Dolphins down or did Chris Grier and company let us down be throwing all that money at him? Why would you say he's giving up on the team? It's one thing to not be good enough and it's another to give up.
