This Saints team is Good, Really good.
I am really exited for this game because we get to measure ourselves against an awesome team.

The undefeated Saints are Ranked
#1st in total offense
#1st in points per game (38)
#1st in yards (430)
#7th in Pass yards
#4th in Rushing yards
#9th in total yards allowed per game
#5th in Rushing Yards allowed per game
#15th in passing yards allowed
Time of Possession 33:51
Sacks 12
3rd down conversions 33/67 49%
Turnover Ratio +9

Our fins are rising up from early tough losses and our stats have improved across the board. Especially our offense and turnover ratio.
#15th in total offense
#15th in points per game
#15th in yards (340)
#26th in pass yards per game (160) (this stat has improved to 181 with henne as starter)
#1st in rushing yards
#10th in total yards allowed per game
#3rd in rushing yards allowed per game
#18th in pass yards allowed per game
Time of Possession 35:29
Sacks 12
3rd down conversions 42/75 56%
Turnover Ratio -3

We will be major underdogs for good reason but we can win this game. The good news is, we are really good in certain areas that are very important for our chances to win the game. Especially controlling the clock, stopping the run, converting 3rd downs and running effectively. Our achilles heel is our passing O(pre-henne) and passing D (particularly our safeties and LB's).

The Saints fans should like their chances this week because they are really super good at passing and we have been streaky at best against the pass. That is why our safeties and LB's really need to step up their game in a big way for us to have a chance. Henne makes our team less one dimensional on O and If he can play like he has been we will have a chance this week. IMO we also need to either win the turnover battle or be even for us to win.

I consider the wildcat just another part of our standard offense at this point. I think it will have a good of amount of success against the saints but it wont be "the reason" we win or lose.

well as much as i'd lovet o go out thier an tear them a new one. I dont see us winning. It will be very hard to stop the pass UNLESS we get a good pass rush on Brees. If we can rush him and throw him off his game i think we have a chance.

Agree 100%
I hope we get Cam Wake involved more this week. Porter and Taylor need to be on fire too.

I like your angle, this game will be a great measuring stick. I don't want to see fans getting unrealistic and ****y. That said, I definately don't want to hear about fans getting scared or worried.

There have been some big upsets this year. No team is unbeatable. We have a good squad. We have a chance. We will be underdogs and deserve it at 2-3. Trust me they are more than a little concerned about playing us. The crowd needs to be the 12th man!!!

I think the first possession will be an important factor in this game. The Saints so far this season have scored on each of their 1st possessions in every game so far. What that means is we need to get the ball first, score a TD and take time off the clock. If you look at the game yesterday, the Giants fell behind early and never recovered. We cant let them get out of the blocks early as there is no way we can keep up.

I expect to see a similar gameplan as the Colts game and control the Time of Possession. If we can bring more pressure and cut down some big plays on DEF we got a real chance in this game. Crowd noise will help too.

I agree with this statement and so do many of the people on the saints boards,

Here are a few of their posts on this same line of thought:

The key will be to getting up on them early. If we don't do that it could be a close game, much like their game against Indy. I despise the wildcat, but it scares me and if they add Pat White to the mix it becomes even more threatening. Plus, they've had two weeks to prepare for us and we'll be coming off a big win and the falcons on the horizon on MNF. So, while the Dolphins won't be the best team we've faced, this could be the toughest preparation week for us so far.

Our game plan will be simple , score early and like the Giants game we will attack your weakness (secondary) until it proves unsuccessful. Wish u guys a great injury free game (with Saints winning of course)

And another post on an unrelated topic that I thought was really good.

it's going to be a great game against your Dolphins. I came away very impressed with your team after the Mon night game man. 3 fourth quarter TD's agains the Jets defense was a huge statement and quite impressive. The fins are the one team that utilizes the wild cat well and consistently. Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams (who looks reborn lately) are perfect for that formation. Your team puts a lot of effort in the Wildcat and doesnt treat it simply as a gimmick play that they will run on occasion, it is a viable and effective part of your offense that is paying nice dividends. What really surprised me the most though was Chad Henne and his uncanny ability to be so poised in the pocket with so little starting experience. He managed the game really well, made few to no mistakes, and adds a string arm that can make the deep throws to Ted Ginn Jr that Pennington was not able to make.

Personally I don't think it's a measuring stick type game at all, it's just another game.
Yes the Saints are real good maybe the best in the league but are the NYG a bad team after getting their butts handed to them? We're we a bad team after losing to Arizona so badly last year? The measuring stick is how you bounce back from bad losses, if we have 5 or 6 losses by the end of the year then that's us mearsuring up to the league. If we end up with 8 or 9 losses then we realize we still have a long way to go.

I hope we win this game but a loss or even a blowout doesn't change anything, it's just 1 of 16 games that makes a season just as a win or blowout win doesn't make us great but it certainly excites us fans though!!!!

Well the good news is I hope we can keep Brees where he can not do anything about winning the game on the SIDELINE!!

It will be a tough tough game to win. The Jets had a dam good chance but mistakes cost them. It will take an error free game to put Miami in position to win.

This will be a huge test for our rookie corners, I hope they are ready to play some tough ball.

I think that's probably the angle that the coaches will use with the team.

But stats don't really tell the whole story, I mean look at where the Giants were ranked defensively & look at how they fared.

Nobody wants to talk about the teams that the Giants played to get those stats. They played the Redskins, Raiders, Chiefs & the Cowboys. Those are some of the worst & softest teams out there.

I think we will do much better than the Giants. The key is obviously improving our pass rush. If JT and Porter are well rested maybe they can get the push we need to slow down Brees.

If we lose against a better team so be it. i just want us to be competitive and not beat ourselves with turnouvers and stupid penalties.

it'll be a mistake for miami to sit back in coverages and try to defend the saints passing game like that. they have to get pressure on Brees to have a chance. if they allow Brees to have even a little time, he will connect with receivers eventually, no matter how good the coverage is. and even if we get down early, we can't stop running the ball.
