Anyone know what round Sam Baker is ranked to be drafted at, beacuse he was a 3 time all american for one of the best teams in college football. He was part of an extremly explosive offense, and he protected the blind side of two great quarterbacks Matt Lienart and John David Booty.

Any body think we should trade our draft picks around and pick him up?

2nd or 3rd round range. Teams have worked him out at every position along the line so it depends on what position they like him best. I do believe he can play LT in the nfl. If he gets out of the 3rd, someone is going to get great value.

i think hes going in the 2nd round, but late part....i can see a team like Arizona or something picking him up,he just doesnt intrigue me...:beer1:

Most draft guides have Baker going late first early second. Some even have him going mid first round range.

Sam Baker is rated in late 1st to mid 2nd round range, but I think he falls to somewhere in the 3rd round because of his poor workouts. He is slower then most teams thought and are probably projecting him to be more of a G or RT now. That will bring his value down as suppose to when he was first thought to be a LT. I personally think he's going to be a bust.

I'm in the minority but I don't think much of Baker. He's not overly impressive in any part of his game. He's horrible in space, not very strong, and has been a mediocre run blocker. I'm probably just being tough on him because of all of the talent at OT in the draft. Or it could be after watching Winston Justice (another hyped USC LT) give up six sacks in one game. Still, I think he'll probably be drafted in the 2nd round, early 3rd at worst.

if we went out last year, he would of been a top 10 pick, along with brohm who would of been a top 5

What if...

If he slips to the first pick in the 3rd, would he be worth it as our LG? That would give us a young, strong OLine for many years if he pans out...

.LT..........LG...........C..........RG..........RT
Long.....Groves.....Satele.....Smiley.....Carey

I think you mean Baker. I don't think he'd be ready to start at guard. He's not strong enough, isn't good in the 2nd level, and isn't an impressive run blocker.

I like your thinking

If I knew I could get Sam Baker in the 2nd round I would choose Chris Long or Gholston 1st.
