He can't tackle and his coverage skills have been steadily slipping the last few years. I sure wish we could have kept Pat Surtain and cut Sam instead.

I don't think that Sam Madison had the same trade value as Surtain did. I agree with your post though, he has been steadily declining and the mental mistakes are going to kill us in the long run.

Losing Surtain and Knight hurt, and it it is showing. Surely, if there is a weakness in our defense, it's the secondary. I still believe Madison is one of the top corners in the league. And, I guarantee in two weeks, he will be on top of his game.

finally ............

I've been saying that for years , other people are starting to see now , HE SUCKS !!!!!!!

The safteys have been playing well. Howard and Madison have not. Madison is on the decline, and needs to shut his mouth and play! Making fun of Smith when Smith owned him??

Madison may not be what he was a few years ago but he's still the best starting CB we have and he's above average. I'd definitely rather we have two of him than one of him and one of Howard.

you're supposed to talkl trash in a game, it's part of the sport;) . But yes, madison's skills are declining, he isn't what he used to be, and no, we couldn't have kept surtain instead.

I don't think losing Knight hurt as much, seems Shulters is doing just fine. But yeah Madison is declining,he's better suited for that in your face coverage.

You don't trash talk when the guy is killing you all game! He's proud of being the # 1 trash talker in the league? How about saying, you know what, he killed me today, I need to play better?

madison is aging and its harder for him to keep up with young athletic wideouts but hes still better then howard and is the best choice for yall at starting cornerback in the next few years it might not be a bad idea to mvoe him to safty

I'm not sure he's actually that highly rated anyway, i'd put him in the 10-15 range of nfl corners

you're right. By all accounts he shouldn't be talking trtash after that performance. But trash talking is part of any team sport and typically goes on no matter what the score. If you rattle your opponent to miss a shot, break from a route to early, or use bad hand positioning on the line because of only your words, then it has been effective.

Though I have no idea what to say after being burned that badly in a game.

On a positive note, his tackling skills are a little better than the team my 8 year old son plays on.

yards

I don't know...I mean I'm no expert, but like Coach Saban said, "Smith got 35 yards on a slant pass against a 3 deep zone, when it should have been maybe 10 yards." I would attirbute that to the entire secondary.
