i know some of you guys are really down on madison right now and i know he is getting older but maybe if he moved to saftey next year he can contribute there. a lot of guys have moved from corner to saftey late in their careers because they lost a step.
i for one thing have not lost faith in this guy, he has had a very good career with the Dolphins.

Don't know that Sam has the tackling ability for a safety but it's worth trying out if Saban thinks it's where he's best suited now. Personally I think Saban has him starting at corner because he thinks he's our best corner, and I agree with that.

no no no... that only works with tough guys... sam is a finesse guy...:shakeno:

he can work on his tackling, and he'll be able to sit back and read the QB and get some more picks!

he is 31 years old. Not sure how many years he has left to learn a new position or is able to.

madisons production is obviously being hurt by surtain's departure. surtain always guarded the best receiver on the other team and sam usually the #2 guy, now sam has to guard the #1 guy and he hasn't had to do that for awhile, since he's lost a step its alot harder for him. i believe this is leading to frustration, herego the personal fouls and the late hits. he's pissed at himself that he can't cover steve smith well and he's taking it out on him out of bounds. while i can fully understand his frustration and i know that its hard to keep in check he's got to do it for the benefit of the team.

The interesting thing, to me, is how much room Madison is giving his receiver at least vs. Smith. I know Smith is talented, but Sam's strength is playing physical at the line of scrimmage. Speed really was never his asset, but he always seemed to judge the pass well and throw receivers off their routes. As far as safety goes, that's a position that relies heavily on run support and Madison is not strong in that area.
