Sammie Lee Hill is a small school (Stillman College) defensive end who is 6'4" 330 pounds and will supposedly test very well in the combine drills. He is a very stout and mobile guy who was productive. Maybe a middle round Parcells type project who could project to NT because of his size.

I'm sure a guy like that has to be on our radar. Based on his stats, he also looks like a player who can get after the quarterback. Don't know much about him, though.

He is an End. He could probably trim down a little but he isn't a NT.

He might make a good 3-4 End but we don't need to take a chance on a player like that when our secondary looks the way it does.
.
There will be a ton of DL talent in next years draft.

When it comes to DL there are a lot of really needy teams out there.
There aren't going to be any steals. It's more likely there will be a bunch of reaching going on.

Too big for the trifecta, they historically have 310-315 lb NT's, does not fit their standards.

This kid is getting my attention more and more. I heard that he is expected to run around 5 Flat in his 40!!!

From what I hear he is very athletic for his size. Getting small attention since he played in a smallish school.

?

1st, who says hes a NFL DE?
2nd, why would he trim down to play NT?
3rd, you dont do anything this year based on what might be in next years draft
4th, i doubt anyone here is talking about picking him day one or anything. just a late round possibility

They played him at DE in college to free him of the double teams which is one of his negatives. But trust me. This guy can be a very good NT under the proper mentor and coaching. He's got size and pure athletic ability, not to mention the strength that he shows from time to time.

Depends on his combime performance and he will propably be a later 4th-5th round draft pick.

All I am saying is this is the type of guy that Parcells make take a flyer on in like the 6th round area. He's 6'4" 330 pounds, is powerful, mobile and productive.

He could drop a few pounds to play 3-4 END not NT. He isn't a NT. He is an End.

If you don't think that our front office isn't looking ahead your ______.

They may not make public statements about such things because they are far too subjective but they are certainly considering the talent that is coming out next year and the year after. If they aren't they are remiss in their duties.

He isn't going to slide. Their aren't going to be any sleepers in the DT area. There is way too much need out there compared to the talent in this draft class.

Someone will draft him in the mid rounds. He won't make it until the late rounds.

Besides, considering the competition he faced, he should have overwhelmingly dominated; but he didn't.

If you want to see what a dominating NT does. Look up some info on Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska who played against top level competition.

Baltimore's Haloti Ngata played DT/DE for two years before moving to NT this past season because of an injury to Kelly Gregg so even at 330 pounds, Hill can play DE in the 3-4.

If Parcells and Ireland is looking ahead to next year, right now, then they are not doing their due diligence in evaluating the players in this year's draft and ,IMO, they are not doing that. They are looking at the players who can help this team this year and will further evaluate the players for next year's draft more extensively when the time is right.

Suh is a great player for Nebraska, plays NT in a 4-man front, but we cannot go into this draft thinking we can draft him next year and past on players who can help us this year because he MIGHT be available next year.

Suh was merely an example. How could you not understan that from the way it was written.

If you are unfamiliar with next years likey prospects the link will take you to a list.

It may be the best DT class this decade.

Listen, how unrealistic can you be. Don't you think our front office people watch college football?

Don't we have a whole network of scouts doing nothing but researching prospects?

These people have to be extremely careful about what they say publicly.

They simply can't be open about their thoughts and feelings most of the time.

Talking about next years draft before this years takes place wouldn't be appropriate, but to think they aren't thinking about it or considering players they watched or were spoken to about by scouts is absurd.

How can anyone familiar with the game not think of Terrence Cody when the NT subject comes up? He is unforgetable just because of his size.

Maybe we are debating different sides of the same coin but I don't think I'm being unrealistic at all. Of course the front office watch college football. Parcells has even attended several college team's practices, Virginia Tech last year and Oklahoma this year.

While they have attended and may know who Cody, McCoy and Suh are, this still doesn't mean they are looking ahead to next year.
