I am curious for those of you who have a satellite radio and listen to Dolphins games, what broadcast team do you get?

The home town broadcast or a satellite radio team?

Thanks

With Sirius, You can actually pick which one you want to listen to. One team is home team and one team is away team. You can listen to broadcast of either home or away team. SO, You can listen to the Dolphins broadcast everytime, even if you are not in Miami!

In regards to Sirius, I have a question as well. Is there a "lag" with the TV and/or radio time delays? In other words, does the radio feed match the TV feed or is there a delay?

Thanks!

I didn't get my Sirius radio until early January so all I heard was the playoffs. There is a delay in listening to it on the radio vs. watching it on TV. However, I live in South Jersey (Eagles territory) and the only way I can watch a Dolphins game is at a sportsbar. And even then there is no sound. Now I'm excited that I can leave the radio on in my car and bring a walkman into the bar and I'll be able to listen and watch the game at the same time. I don't care if it's a little slow with the TV, it's better than nothing.

Sirius really is amazing and I'm so glad I bought it. I bought it first of all because I'm a HUGE howard stern fan but he's really just icing on the cake. EVERY sport is on Sirius except MLB. (NFL, NBA, NHL, Nascar, soccer, NCAA, everything.) Not to mention the 24/7 NFL channel is awesome. They are always interviewing players, coaches, front office people from all the teams and provide insight and analysis that is better than any I've heard or read. I also recommend the Maxim channel.

Thanks for the info, hope I dont come off as a dope....as for the choice between home and away broadcast...am I correct in assuming that if I chose Miami's broadcast I would get (using last year) Mandich/David calling the game?

Thanks again

How do you get it to come in on your walkman from your car

Last time I checked with Sirius, it couldn't be used overseas. Anyone know if they are launching overseas listening anytime soon ?

Can you get the local daily Miami sports radio talk on Sirius? Like 790?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no. Each channel is actually owned, operated, and distributed by the company. Howard Stern will no longer be available to those without Sirius.

With that saud, I want one. Anyone know how much??????????

Mod edit: No need for a flamewar. Please stay on topic.
At least we agree on a football team.

That $49 is just for the tuner, then you may need a home kit or a car kit, Then it's $12 a month forever, or you can pay for the year or a few hundred gets you a lifetime subscription PER turner I think is how it goes. A LOT OF FINE print for those of us not in the know.

I bought a plug and play unit. Meaning I can take the radio with me and plug it into a home kit, car kit or a boombox. (all are separate parts that cost extra.) I can listen to it via walkman because you have the option of either hardwiring it to your stereo or by using the FM Modulator. What that means is that the satelitte radio has an option to give off an FM signal (usually you have 12 settings or so to choose from) and then you tune your regular radio to that FM station. Ranges vary but you can probably get around 30 feet or so away.

So for example, I park my car next to the bar and leave the sirius unit on to the dolphins game with the FM modulator set to 89.9 FM. I then go into the bar and turn on my walkman to the FM station 89.9 and listen to the sirius broadcast. It's great.

There is a new unit made by Xact called the rego coming out. It is suppose to be a walkman style and have MP3 (ipod) like features where you can record songs/broadcasts/whatever.

You can find more information about sirius at www.sirius.com or read reviews about units and get all your questions answered ahead of time at www.siriusbackstage.com

The unit's vary in price but you can get the starmate right now with a car kit for $50. The monthly subscription fee is $13 or you can opt for a one time fee of $500 for the lifetime of the radio. However, i hear there is now an option for a $75 transfer fee to a new radio that you can do 3 times. You also have the ability to listen online to all the music channels in case you don't get reception at work or in your house.
