After 5 games, the Miami Dolphins passing game is still crawling down the field in a phone booth..

- Yards per Pass Play: 6.2 yds (ranked #30 out of 32 NFL teams)

- Longest Pass Play: 35 yds (ranked #31 out of 32 NFL teams)

- Passer Rating: 81.5 (ranked #26 out of 32 NFL teams)

The season can still be saved, but drastic changes have to be made.

- Bench: QB Ryan Tannehill.

- Rest & Rehab: WR Brian Hartline (knee). He's clearly struggling.

- Rest & Rehab: WR Brandon Gibson (knee). He's clearly struggling.

- Rest & Rehab: TE Charles Clay (knee). He's clearly struggling.

Instead, play..

- QB Matt Moore

- WR Damian Williams

- WR Rishard Matthews

- TE Gator Hoskins

REASON: Ryan Tannehill & Matt Moore are both mediocre QBs. But at least Matt Moore throws a nice deep ball. The Miami Dolphins have a $60 million nuclear weapon, that is currently hibernating and collecting dust. It's called the Mike Wallace deep go route. Ryan Tannehill is unable to unlock this weapon. Matt Moore might be able to.

Hartline, Gibson, and Clay are great when they're 100%. But they're all clearly struggling, and likely not fully recovered from knee injuries. For a skill position like WR, playing at the highest level in the NFL, not being able to fully explode through cuts is a big deal, especially since none of those 3 were blazing fast burners to begin with.

With Matt Moore throwing good deep balls to Mike Wallace, Damian Williams, Gator Hoskins, along with Jarvis Landry continuing to rip up the middle, the passing game should become more explosive, and give us a real chance of making the playoffs.

We're currently crawling to a certain death. It's time to make the change. Let it fly. Let's see what we've got.

Great ideas.

All of this goes into something larger I am planning to post about soon. I think I may write a get real thread later tonight. And no, it wont be all about Tannehill and Matt Moore. But, there is a large scale problem with this franchise. I would not mind seeing all of these players get opportunities.

you trying to save the season or make a play for the #1 pick...cause you'd be doing the latter

So who is replacing Philbin? Lazor? McCoy? Who is our Head Coach on the bench? Let's give him some playing time and bench Joe.

I'll be waiting with bated breath for your expert analysis.

I will eagerly anticipate what is sure to be the 3-peat.....the 2014 Thread of the Year.

The way this franchise has been, giving players opportunities equates to "Let's see just how much they suck"!

If they were that good, they'd be starting.

Gibson's already out and I don't think he's coming back in with how Landry has been playing. The only one of these I'd be willing to consider is Hartline, and that has nothing to do with his knee.

We don't need Charles Clay to be benched. We need to find better ways to get Charles Clay into the gameplan.

imo Gator needs to be on field ahead of Sims in most sets; but Clay seems unready, so Gator/Sims need to give us midfield threshold; Wheeler's being shoved back, let's get Tripp up and going and move to Jenkins/McCain/Tripp.. DWil1 moving up, cool; let's also move DWil2 up, cuz Hartline ain't.. well.. just aint

Either that or the people running this franchise are clueless.
