Unless this is Brees' way of getting more money from Miami, It looks like he will be playing in a NO uniform next season. The Miami Herald Reports:

Quarterback Drew Brees is scheduled to travel from Birmingham, Ala., to New Orleans today, and the closer Brees gets to his destination, the farther he will be from a possible free agent contract with the Dolphins.
As free agency officially began at midnight Saturday, Brees set his sights on spending the weekend visiting with New Orleans officials, and the chances of him leaving the Big Easy without signing a lucrative contract are small, according to an NFL source.
''We've already got things lined up and we'll be rocking and rolling the minute the clock strikes midnight,'' Brees said Friday from Birmingham, where he is rehabilitating from right shoulder surgery.
Brees declined to eliminate the Dolphins or any team from his list of possibilities but said he was, ``focused on what's happening the next couple of days.''
That leaves the Dolphins working on a trade for Minnesota quarterback Daunte Culpepper, who wants to leave Minnesota and play for Miami.
The Dolphins, eager to upgrade the quarterback spot this offseason, must land Culpepper or face the prospect of chasing either a rookie draftee or a less accomplished player such as Washington's Patrick Ramsey or Arizona's Josh McCown.:shakeno:

IMO Brees really wants to play for Miami and hes trying to reel us into a bigger contract.

McKown Is SCHEDULED TO VISIT WITH NO AS WELL

Personally Im just going to wait until Sunday now to see what happends

Brees is a fool if he chooses the Saints over us. The only way he will do so is if there are concerns about his shoulder that nobody knows about and he signs for the highest guaranteed money. To me it seems as if he wants to play for a winner. This is why I think he will end up in Miami.

Still hoping on Brees coming to Miami, and not breaking he bank in doing so...
Now seriously, on the optimistic side. Brees has done everything right since coming into the NFL. He is a very stand-up guy, even when all he ney-sayers were throwing him under the bus, even when SD gave away Eli Manning AND DRAFT PICKS (What a kick in the groin that was) to aquire Rivers, he has taken the high road.
That said, I think it is more than just the money for this guy. I feel his best opportunity is with the fins. New Orleans is gonna be rebuilding AGAIN>
We will just have to see.

EDIT: My bad, San Diego did indeed take the loot. They got Rivers, the Giants 04 3rd, and 05' 1 and 5th picks

This is a dumb thread title.

A free agent visiting a place means absolutely nothing.

SD didn't give draft picks in the Eli deal, they got them.

Just because you visit a team first doesn't mean he will sign with that team. If that's the case, then we will sign Adams, Mawae, Arrington and Givens because they all visted us first.

So what if he visits New Orleans. He is coming here Sunday. If he is dumb enough to go with the Saints, then they can have him. But I feel he cant make it look like the deal was already in place, so he is visiting another team.

If i'm the Saints, I'd better not let him leave town without a contract, or else I won't get him back to New Orleans. If i'm Miami, i'm hitting his agents cell over and over and making sure he knows that a trip to Miami is a MUST and when Drew gets to Miami, he walks by and see the facility, the super bowl trophy's, the first class organization that we are and our history, I think Saban can close the Deal with the rest, assuming the $$ is right. Again, this obviously hinges on New Orleans and Sean Payton, and if i'm him, I probably over pay a little and break the bank just to get this guy to stay in New Orleans..

SD received draft picks from that trade.....they did not give any away....that trade was really good for them....eli did not want to play in SD

that said i do see it as a slap in the face to brees

i cant see him going to NO.....he wants to win....and miami (playing in the AFC) seems like the perfect place to win

We'll wait and see. I wish he would have come to MIAMI first but I can't see him going to New Orleans. The community is still a disaster from the hurricane, he has a better chance of winning here..Basically all the reports are B.S. Bottom line is we'll know what ever in a couple of days....

i still dont really understand why new orleans is in tis ting....question----if you guys were NO, would u draft Lleinart/Cutler/Young or pick up Brees....

I like Brees but im a little worried about that shoulder.....and if miami was in NO position I would skip on Brees, stick with Frerotte and draft Leinart
