until there is an article saying Saints sign Drew Brees, he is a free agent.

We can make comparisons to Woody all we want, but the difference is the cities. Even before Katrina, Detroit is a hell of a lot better than New Orleans. And Woody was also going to a team that was considered up and coming.

Until it's official, don't jump to conclusions.

For every Damien Woody, there is a Kevin Carter, who signed a week after meeting with us.

Besides, David Givens is arriving in Miami shortly, so we should watch out for him.

I just don't know if Brees is the answer, he's a solid QB, but he sure has looked bad at times when teams shut down LT. He's accurate in the short and intermediate routes, but his arm strength is not great (can't be helped after this injury) and his release is not that quick. Without a dominant running game that the defense has to focus on, and a TE like Gates killing you over the middle, I'm just not sold if he's a guy who can carry you, especially if you're not running a short, ball control offense.

I guess he's as good or better than any of our alternatives, but I'm still going to have mixed feelings if we sign him.

Let me tell you a thing about the Herald!

Don't trust or fall prey to anything in the Herald. Considering I was born and raised here in Miami and have seen 34 years worth of crap in the hearld there is one thing that always is clear, "They are trying to sell papers"! They are always negative and try to tell you one side of a story! Relax! Bree's will go to New Orleans try to make us nervous to try and get a few more bucks and then fly down here and sign on the dotted line! The Herald is always wrong it seems......trust me!:dolphins:

Look at it this way. Ronnie Brown should improve and will probably be much better than his rookie season. And if he's happen to be shut down, the D can't concentrate on one man, to stop Brees anymore. He has Chambers, Booker, Welker, possibly Givens, McMichael, and Ronnie out of the backfield to throw to now. Not just Gates and LT.

We also have a pretty good tight end in Randy McMike hopefully we'll get to see how far he can throw the ball but unfortunately there are no Elway's,Marino's or Manning's available at this time. On the positive side I have actually heard of stories that after such surgeries as Drew had the arm come's back tighter and stronger than ever who know's he might just be able to throw it for 75 yards!!! Here's to hoping we get that chance to find out when he's throwing to one of our receivers and not someone else's.

I think money will talk when it comes to Brees, his heart will say Miami but the contract offer he'll get from NO that I fear will be too big for us to match or even come close to matching will win out.

it wouldn't really make sense for Brees to go to the Saints this season.......they were a 3-13 disaster last season and the status of the team staying in New Orleans remains up in the air. Not to mention, Miami has superior talent on both sides of the ball, a much better coaching staff and just a better city to play NFL ball in. I'm still confident we'll land Brees......

Do some research - the Saints are commited to staying in N.O until 2009. Why would Brees sign with the Saints? Might have something to do with 3X more cap space the Saints have over the Phins ($6.3 mil Dolphins, $20 mil Saints). The Saints cut Brooks, Fred Thomas they'll have another $10 mil in cap room. The Saints can just offer more guaranteed money.

That being said - I still think you guys get Brees. I think his agent is just using the Saints to run up the guaranteed money. If the Saints lose out on Brees they'll draft Leinart (what a horrible situation)......
