One person of interest to NFL in its independent investigation into mess in Miami is Dolphins OL coach Jim Turner.

Anyone surprised?

More from Schefter:

NFL has received multiple tips of other potential instances of harassment inside Dolphins' organization, per sources.

They have to clean house How can Joe survive and the damn line coach is the scape goat?

More garbage. Anyone who follows the Dolphins knows the o line has no coach and if someone is calling themselves a coach of that unit they should be arrested for fraud.

Yup, if Turner is implicated, that falls on Philbin, because he hired him and put him in charge.

Martin is such a snake. Turner has done nothing that any other coach has done. Look up stories of Alex Gibbs.

I called this one weeks ago... that drill sergeant shtick is endearing on TV but the position coach is judged by results and they're sorely lacking and no doubt by the climate of a tough inflexible vibe he's fomented in the squad's meetings and scrimmages. Just another example of Sherman hiring NFL untested position coaches either because of nepotism or college familiarity. Still incredulous that our very valuable QB asset was entrusted to a son in law who barely coached the position even in college, if at all, and whose main claim to fame was 2 years as Nebraska's QB.

Sherman hired the Oline coach? LOL. It is Joe's staff.

I was impressed with him on hard knocks, but after that, I didn't like the way he handled things. When that "tipped ball" problem came up, the Dolphins handled it the way they handled everything else, by saying there's no problem. Turner was really defensive over it, and as I recall, so was Sherman and they said they weren't going to ask their O lineman to make any adjustments, or do anything different at all. Now when you're an O lineman, and you hear that, doesn't the message get through that "I'm doing my job, and if the QB is having a problem that's his fault?" Where is accountability? Team play? Where is, doing whatever it takes to get the job done? What do you think Marino would have done with that offensive line? His head would have exploded right on the field, he'd be so angry.

If it turns out that Turner knew there was a personal problem on the line as well as a football problem, and did nothing, then he needs to go.

I dont think there is any way anyone survives this! Shoot, I might be surprised if Joe and Jeff arent fired mid season

Martin is a snake and Philbin and Ireland are totally incompetent. There is a bright side after all, we dump a bunch of our crap as a result of this and start over. Martin, Philbin, Ireland all gone...maybe we can bring in some actual leaders and not known psychopaths also. I bet that works out better then this did.

Wait, how is it Sherman's fault? He sucks as an OC, but this is Joe's staff.

Wait, how is it Sherman's fault? He sucks as an OC, but this is Joe's staff.

So you think Philbin's directive to Sherman was "hire anyone you want to coach our rookie QB, but if I had my choice, it would be your untested son in law" ??? Or instructed Sherman: "You can hire an experienced OL coach if you want, but if you're sensitive to my own preferences, you'll hire your NFL-untested OL coach from Texas A&M" ???

Sorry but when you hire your OC, if you don't have faith in his own personnel decisions going in (and that's another story entirely), then hell, you should never have hired him in the first place. So yeah, Philbin is responsible for the mess Sherman created, but it was Sherman who created it
