Speaking on ESPN's Mike and Mike in the Morning Tuesday, Adam Schefter said he doesn't see the Dolphins as a "viable contender" for free agent Peyton Manning.

Schefter believes Manning's Monday meeting with the team was a "courtesy visit," and that they won't be able to match what the Broncos, Cardinals and Titans "bring to the table." Owner Stephen Ross' aggressiveness appears to have hurt the Dolphins' chances of landing Manning more than it has helped. If not for his pocketbook, they may not have even been given a meeting.

1.) A courtesy visit isn't 6 hours long

2.) Ross' aggressiveness? They were quiet as can be.

3.) I don't think money is the #1 reason why Manning will go to a team.

Sounds like BS to me.

The media hates the fact they knew nothing about the meeting yesterday so time to dump on the Fins.

If he wasn't considering the Dolphins, he would've just said no like he did to Seattle and KC.

This doesn't make sense. Snyder has a big pocketbook too, yet Manning told Washington (and KC for that matter) that he wasn't interested days ago.

I dont think it has anything to do with Ross. I believe it has everything to do with PM. I get a feeling that Manning wants to run the same systeme that he ran in Indy and wants to direct and have input on who we bring in. Irleand and Philbin just ain't with it. Not completely anyway. Denver has the upper hand because they have the larger cap space, they can work with a clean slate, and the coaching staff is comfortable with him directing the o.

Nobody wanted PM here more then I did. I seem to believe him and Wayne makes Mia a clear SB bound team, but now that it has been been explained to me I understand. I'm all set with Manning at this point and I have moved ahead. Problem is I hope the front office has too.

hard to believe Manning could not see the potential of this team with him and Wayne. My wife even figured out Mia would be unstoppable. Oh well, go on to Denver and get your head beat in casue there is one thing they forgot to tel you in Denver.................. They have a great run blocking o line, not so much built for pass protection.

Yuppers - Manning wants control of the O period and he is a hit away from being sidelined - so I am indifferent - One thing Luck, RG3 and PM will have in common with their new clubs - RUNNING FOR THEIR VERY LIVES -

Then again, a formerly credible guy like Sheffler wouldn't have seemed to be "a viable option" for BSPN, so go know :idk:

It's over with manning forget it this owner sucks for some reason we don't know he turns everyone off ,just are luck this guy lost out on two coaches and manning don't even want to sit down with him there is a problem here , but what else is new with this team we have to move on. Let Manning go to Denver and freeze his balls off we got to move ..

Quick question, why was the meeting held in Indy as opposed to Mia? Is Ross that adamant about signing Manning that it's become more of a nuisance that Manning doesn't want to be around it?

An owner being aggressive is a bad thing? Who knew?

A future HOF QB being put off b/c the local media is interested he's in town and that's why he won't sign with the team? Who knew?

I apprecaite the fact that everyone believes we would be "unstoppable" and Super Bowl contenders as soon as Manning would step on the field for us, but history and reality aren't on our side.

Most fans on this board want to oversimplify every facet of our team and organization to make it seem like we are always one or two steps away from winning the Super Bowl. Yet it's been 50 years since we've done it. And 30 since we've even been in the Super Bowl.

"All Star" teams don't do it. Big names gaurantee nothing. But these are the devices fans use to explain why a team isn't winning.

There are lessons all over sports history to explain how real champions win. The 1980 U.S. Hockey Team is a prime example. It's not about names, it's about every detail that goes into the mix. For all that Peyton is... there is a lot that he's not.

After 50 years of not winning it, you can't possibly believe we are only 1 player away.

For everything the Heat are after assembling their dream team, they still didn't win the championship. A seasoned team that has played together for many years won it. There is a monumental difference between getting to the championship and winning it. Sure, the difference might be quanitified in a few words. But those few words described the extra something that one team had and another didn't. And they were the only team that had it.

Peyton Manning would be a wrecking ball to the Phins organization. In one move, you would have dismissed the Philbin hiring, Sherman hiring, drafting and player acquisition performed by Ireland and Parcells and destroyed all team chemistry.

Of all teams in the NFL, WE should know what it is like to have a Peyton Manning. How many years have we prided ourselves on "Dan Marino wasn't a system QB. Dan Marino was a system." Sounds great when it rolls off the tongue. But then you realize we have had 16 starting QBs since Marino retired 13 years ago, then you can't intelligently say that it was all because of one reason.

We have had NO direction since he left. Not once has the franchise invested the money, picks, coaching staffs, the general manager and every other talking head in the organization to be at risk for annointing a new face for the franchise. Marino was the face of the franchise. And everyone in the franchise was devoted to making him succeed.

It's easy to think Peyton would galvanize the organization. But in fact, he would polarize it. He's not just a piece that you plug in. He's a piece that destroys the current puzzle. You build around him. And if we did acquire him, everything we do while he is here would be scrapped the minute he walks away.

So, you want 13 more years of futility just to feel warm and fuzzy for 2 years?

No. We've hired Philbin and we've hired Sherman. Now give them the QB THEY NEED to succeed. Sign Flynn.

Don't leave Philbin with a mess to clean up and become the scape goat in 2 years when Peyton laughs all the way to the bank.

Just MHO
