Someone about to be offered a tremendous amount of money to do a job wouldn't accept it because:

1. It's a horrible job
2. The ownership/employees already there are terrible people
3. The job was taken by somebody else

What do you think made Schottenheimer turn down the job?

probably not having control of his coaching assistants. the capers signing was probably the big problem

Shortsitedner

He probably found out a deal is already done with either Mora jr or Gailey and wanted to appear as if he did not get left at the altar. Who knows??? Regardless he is too goofy looking to do anything but radio

Does it matter? The guy didn;t want to become our coach badly enough to wait a couple more days.

The reason is because he didn't think he had enough experience.

You know, I was thinking about this since I heard the news. What could have made B-Schott remove his name from our list of candidates????

At first I thought the Jets may have offered more money. Then I thought maybe it was our time in making a desicion.....

Whatever it was....I think this goes to show we are in far worse shape then will really believe....we probably have a bad owner, just like the Lions have with Ford. Maybe an owner who doesn't know what to look for in a Head Coach.

It would seem he didn't have enough confidence in himself and wants to wait until he has more experience before taking a Head Coaching gig. You figure once your labeled a failure as a HC the job offers stop coming so he probably just wants to be certain he's ready before taking a HC job with someone.

Actually it's being reported that the Jets did in fact offer more money to Schotty Jr. to stay because they didn't want to lose their OC to a division rival.

HIS DAD?

Either the Dolphins canceled his interview because they've already decided on their coach, Gailey or Mora (2nd interviews typically end with a job offer)
And it was mutually beneficial for Brian and the Dolphins to have him remove his name.

Or he decided that the Miami job was too much, Dolphins are structured for the head coach to have a lot of power, for him at his age and stage of his career.

Just because Brian thought the job was not a good fit for him does not mean that the Miami job is not a good one. It could have come down to not having enough coaches that might have followed him to Miami, he may have coaches in mind that he would rather bring with him when the time comes.

I think perhaps he was overwhelmed, and needs to gain more experience as a coordinator...a decision which should benefit him greatly down the road. And perhaps, he heard something regarding his Dad, and doesn't want to be in competition with him.

Huizenga is one of the best owners in the NFL.
