We'll be fine. Saban is a guru. There's no way this team should've won 9 games last year. It was all Saban.

He'll dump the guys not worth their money and JT & Zach will restructure to keep the family together & competitive.

As far as the Draft & Free Agency go:

1st Round - Best available OL
2nd Round - Best available QB
3rd Round - Best available OL
4th Round - Trade for Patrick Ramsey
7th Round - Best available player
7th Round - Best available player
7th Round - Best available player

Yes we're used to the defense being Top-5, but our offense won't even be competitive until we invest in the O-Line and bring in a rookie & veteran QB. Ramsey can be had cheaply, and Winston (USC) & Croyle (BAMA) would be great pickups.

Brees & Culpepper have to prove they're recovered, and remember, we could've (& should've) had Brees in the draft. We inexplicably chose CB Jamar Fletcher instead when we were already good at CB, and now SD has Brees Fletcher thanks to our genius move for David Boston.

We have to fix the offense now, the DEF can survive slipping a few rungs.

I'm still baffled though at last year. We could've traded Surtain for Edgerrin James, traded our #2 overall pick for a package of picks and started last year with Aaron Rodgers, Edge & a rookie OL in the 2nd round.

That would've been better than Frerotte & Ronnie Brown.
========================
Anyway,

The OFFENSE only needs a few pieces to really come together, and that would make the DEFENSE better as they won't have to be on the field so much.

Think about this: The winner of Ramsey vs. Croyle (strongest arm in the draft), Ronnie Brown, Randy McMichael, Chris Chambers and a more talented, more effective O-Line.

We restock the O-Line & DEFENSE with those extra picks and a couple decent Free Agents, and we could win 12 games.:dolphins:

The stongest arm in the draft belongs to Jay Cutler. Croyle is injury prone and has an average arm.

Croyle threw the furthest at the Rookie Skills Competetion. Point being, we're not going to get Lienart, Young or Cutler. I want to grab a top 2nd-tier guy and develop him. We have to invest a high pick in a QB or we'll be chasing questionable veterans for eternity.

That competition was a playful event. Look for the throwing speed numbers from the combine instead. I believe he was 3rd in his group of QBs with about a 53-55mph pass. Still good but not the best. I'm sure the numbers are up somewhere.

NO CROYLE

Do NOT waste our franchise QB slot, the ONLY chance we have of getting a good one this year, on a guy whose knees could crumble at any time.

I say CUT 'EM ALL, get Brees, and start over.

Are you crazy???

Patrick Ramsey is a BUM, why go after him when Drew Brees will be available. Don't forget, he's a young elite QB. The o-line is improving, but after all these cuts I think we need to get some DB help.

Draft:
1-Michael Huff
2-LB
3-OT
4-CB
5-FB
6-OG
7-DT

No way we go after a CB in the first round. Too many people around here are panicking about our CB's when we are actually fine. Daniels held his own as a ROOKIE this past year and Will Poole is coming back from his injury. Just because we are young at CB does NOT mean we need more. Just be patient and watch these two grow into the second coming of Madison and Surtain. With that said, we're either going OL with the #16 pick or finding a good trade for more picks.

With that line of thinking you'll stay baffled.

I agree with your philosophy, dumping overpaid guys. But Edge would be overpaid IMO. He's now on the downside of his career and will want big $ as he would have last year. Still great, but not worth what he would want in money. I know we are stuck with Gus for now and that hurts. I hope somehow we get Cutler or a decent veteran....maybe the CBA gets done soon and we have room. Also, with your draft, how do you address CB? I'd like to draft an OL man or 2, but also a corner (before round 4). I'm not sure how that all gets done. Maybe it doesn't this year. Maybe QB remains in the hands of Gus :boohoo: again.

On the contrary, the strongest arm in this year's draft is Ingle Martin. Croyle has the third best arm in the draft. Cutler is second.

Are you on crack Superself? You're a fan of the Frerotte/Feely experiment?

How can you not see our glaring needs at QB & OL, and how can you say that any QB in last year's draft (after Alex Smith), Edgerrin James and a rookie OL in the 2nd round wouldn't have been better than Frerotte/Brown.

I like Ronnie Brown, but I think we could've gotten a lot more value from that #2 overall pick.
