After some initial optimism, it now appears that San Diego State cornerback J.J. Whittaker will miss a second-straight season after re-tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during spring ball.
The Oceanside High grad, one of the prized recruits of the 2010 recruiting
class, tore his ACL before fall camp of the 2010 season started.
He rehabbed all last year, utilizing his redshirt year and the hope was that he would contend
for a starting spot -- or at least significant playing time -- this season.
"Unless he has a miraculous recovery, we don't think he'll play next year,"
said head coach Rocky Long.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Whittaker initially committed to Arizona in 2009,
but switched his commitment to the Aztecs late in the recruiting season.
