Was getting burned again today. This time by the Pats third choice receiver. Terrible mistake on the coverage of the long TD play in the third. We were really lucky that Brady overthrew the long bomb just slightly midway through the fourth, and that in their last drive the receiver dropped an easy catch.

At this rate, the guy will be without a job by week 15.

Come on dude. That was a freak catch, that I guarantee was all luck.

And yeah, Sean Smith sucks! He should be able to lock down one of the best QB's in the game, throwing to two of the best wr's in the game, with decent receivers backing them up.

I'm not gonna say Smith will suck forever, but I definitely love Vontae much more than Smith.

Smith needs time to develop. Some players develop faster than others.

remember that vontae was a 1st round pick. don't get me wrong, i think smith has a tremendous amount of talent, but cut the guy some slack. also, i think he was going for the INT, instead of the swat, definitely shouldn't have been a TD

it's his tackling you should be complaining about. dude needs to hit the weights this offseason.

The guy is getting progressively worse as the year goes on, and the only reason behind this is him being a rookie? Shouldn't it be the opposite, and if that is the case, shouldn't he be improving as he gains experience, like Davis for example?

Definately...both corners played well today given the challenge.
The 3rd quater play against Smith could have just as easily have gone the other way..

If Smith was good it would go the other way. Every week it is the exact same excuse. Perfect pass by QB, could have gone either way. When will people start to see its not because its a perfect pass but because WRs are able to get open against Smith.

And whatever happened to his "great" hands?

rookie growing pains, i'm not worried one bit, as much as i hated some of the stuff i saw today, i love what i see on some other plays

he's in his 3rd year as a cornerback in his life, i'll give him more time than any player on this team

Terrible game. Terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible. All around lousy. No sugar coating it. He needs to bounce back and I have serious questions as to whether his confidence got shaken on that big pass to Aiken.

Listen, I'm VERY high on the pairing of Smith and Davis. But right now they're the biggest weakness on the defense. It's been very curious to me how Dol-Fans have basically tried to blame anyone but these two for the woes on D. You have two rookies starting at CB. That's like trying to start a true rookie at QB and then wondering why you lose games sometimes. The Will Allen injury was HUGE. Bigger than the Ferguson injury. Much bigger.

These coaches made a decision that they weren't going to grab a veteran CB to try and eat away at their starting time. They made that decision before Will Allen's injury when they decided to have Smith start and Davis be the third guy, and they made that decision after the injury when they had the pair start. They were going to let these babies grow up in a hurry.

You are GOING to pay for that decision. And right now the big plays and the fourth quarter defense are HOW we are paying for it. That's how the weakness is rearing its ugly head.

They're doing well for rookies and I'm very high on their future. But "for a rookie" doesn't win on Sundays. This is football, not Welfare. You don't get extra points in the mail for having more kids. This is a big weakness that will get better with time and patience.

On Aiken's TD pass Smith had excellent coverage. Some pretty blatant offensive pass interference helped prevent him from making a play. On the long incomplete pass he made a dumb rookie mistake by looking back. It happens and it's part of the learning process.
